Forgetting Lenny

Chapter 4

"Hey, it's Eliza. From science class:)"

I sat on my bed, nervously rewriting the text I would send to Lenny over and over until I was happy with it. I don't know why I was so nervous to text him, we just needed to sort out what to do for our project because we didn't do any work in class. I was reading "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart which is my favorite book. I've read it three times, but it's such a good book so I keep reading it. I was about to start another chapter when I heard my phone bing.

"Hi Eliza. It's Lenny just so you know"

"Ya, I know it's you! I have your phone number"

"Haha so, what are you doing?"

"I'm reading what about you?"

"Nothing much. What are you reading?"

"We Were Liars by E. Lockhart"

"I love that book! I love the relationship between Cady and Gat. Have you finished it?"

"Yes! I've read it a few times. I really enjoyed the first time I read it but the second time was even better because you know the ending and you notice the signs of the real ending."

"Yes! It's so good!"

"Okay, so we need to figure out what we were doing for our project" I really didn't want to talk about school, but we did need to figure out what to do for our science project.

"Do you want to meet up sometime to do our project?" Lenny responded seconds after my text delivered.

"Sure! How's Coffee Loft? Is that anywhere near you?" Coffee Loft is a local coffee shop in our town that a lot of people like because it has great coffee.

"Sure, how does Saturday sound to you?"

"Perfect. I'll see you then."

"I'll see you then."

I smiled and put my phone down. Right as I put my phone down, I got a text. I flipped it over and saw a text from "Babe<3". I sighed and picked up my phone, reading the text I just got.

"Hey baby<3"

"Hey Derek, what's up?" I respond quickly, he always hates when I don't respond fast.

"What are you doing this weekend? You want to come to the dorms and see me?"

I sighed and put my phone down. Derek Fakan. My boyfriend since freshman year, the first boy I loved. He's in college one town over. He's a freshman in college though, so he's not that much older than me. I could never breakup with him.

"No, I'm sorry. I have schoolwork to do this weekend."

"Come on babe! I haven't seen you in forever!"

"Ya, I know sorry. But I got to go. Goodnight."

"Night Liza. Love you<3."

I looked at this text and turned off my phone. I put my phone down and turned off my room light. This will be a long year.
