He looked up at me, startled and slightly embarrassed.
"Found me again haven't you?" I joked giggling a bit. He rolled his eyes.
"I..." He started, his voice trailing off, "yeah I guess I did," he finished, regaining a bit of confidence.
"Why are you up?" He questioned.
"Couldn't sleep," I replied.
"Up for coffee?" I asked.
"Coffee sounds great," he said smiling a bit more. Again, it was strange how little we knew about each other but I already felt so comfortable around him.
With that, we were off on our way. I lead because I wanted to bring him to the diner where Charlie worked, even though he only worked part time and his shift wouldn't start until later. We got to the shop just as it was opening: 5:30am. Presumably, we were the only two in there as most people didn't stop in until later. Connor ordered a plain cup of coffee and laughed when I ordered a latte with extra whip cream.
"What?" I questioned, "Coffee tastes bad!"
He responded with only a chuckle and we sat down at a booth by a window. The rest of the city had started to wake up with the buildings down the street all flipping their signs to expose the "Open" signs.
"Why were you crying?" Connor blurts out while I'm staring out the window.
Startled I turn back to him, his face a shade of pink with embarrassment in his eyes.
