I was six, and we were finally back home...but it wasn't how I wanted it to be. He wouldn't use any light at all, especially at night, so I had to find my way around in the dark. He wouldn't let me out of the house to play in the front yard, so basically all I had to do was play around pressing keys on the dusty piano that was tucked away in a dark corner.

I had just waken up in bed, which felt really nice, considering that I had been sleeping on blankets on the ground for the last year or so.

Sleepily, I noticed that my father was not laying beside me like he usually was. He would never let me sleep in a different room than him, in case "They" came. If that were to happen, we could make a quick get away.

Yawning, I got out of bed to look for him.

"Father?" My small voice cut through the silent hallway. "Fath-" I immediately covered my mouth and stepped a couple steps back.

My father was in the sitting room talking to some man. I peeked around the corner again.

The man was tall and slender, with long, greasy black hair. He looked angry and impatient. I pulled my head back in to the hallway and listened, frightened.

"Where is she, Fyrus?" The man asked.

"She is asleep." Father sneered, sounding enthused.

"Have you even been caring for her? She needs food, clothing-"

"That's what the money is for! Did you bring it, brother?" My father spat. The man sighed.

"Yes, I did."

"Good."

"But I can't keep doing this! The Ministry is going to connect me with you, eventually! Why won't you just turn yourself in?"

"No! I"m not going to Azkaban!"

"It's not all about you! Think about your daughter!"

"I have no daughter!"

"What would Melody say to that?"

"Don't you dare bring her into this!"

"You promised her as she was dying that you would care for Eleanor!"

"The child is being feed! I give her the necessities! What's the big deal!?" My father's face was turning bright red. "The thing is useless! All she does is pound away on that stupid piano! If she's not doing that she's finding some other way to annoy me! And do you know how many times she's almost gotten us caught!?"

"She's a child! She doesn't know right from wrong! She doesn't understand what is happening!"

"It's all her fault in the first place!'"

"Nothing is her fault!"

"If it wasn't for her, Melody would still be here!" My father had lost his temper by then, and looked almost crazy. The man breathed out a great quantity of air from his long, hookish nose.

"And it is you fault that she's here in the first place! If you didn't want a child then you shouldn't have humped Melody like she was some whore!"

"It was out of love, Severus!"

"I don't think you are even capable of love!"

"I loved her!"

"The child is part of her!"

"I would kill the child if I hadn't promised!"

"You're slowly killing her anyway! She's never meet another child! Are you going to teach her to read and write?! And in a few years she'll be old enough to go to Hogwarts! What are you going to do then!? How is she going to learn magic?!"

"She hasn't even shown any signs of being a witch! She's probably a stupid Squib!"

"Can't you show some compassion!"

"Look who's talking! What was it that you called your 'Dearest Lily'? Oh, yeah... Mudblood! Where was the compassion then!?" The man's face suddenly went emotionless as he balled his hands into fists.

"Don't...talk...about...Lily..." He said through gritted teeth.

"You talked about Melody, now it's my turn!" My father got right next to the man's ear. "Bet you wish you could take that back..." He whispered.

"I want to see the child!" The man suddenly exclaimed. "Where is she?!"

"Why would you-"

"You heard me, Fyrus!"

"My bedroom."

Quickly, I ran back into my father's room and jumped under the blankets. By the time they entered, I was in a fake slumber.

"What happened to her eye?" The man asked, examining the side of my face that wasn't in the pillow.

"I don't know. She probably fell or something."

"You hit her."

"No-"

"Don't lie!"

"I only give her what she deserves!"

"You're just like our father!"

"She's eight. She can take it!"

"She's six, Fyrus! Six!"

"What ever."

"You sicken me."

"Just as well. Now, let's' get back to why you came...The money?"

"Here." The man spat. "Take the stupid money! I'm taking the child!"

"No your not! She is mine!"

"Then why don't you act like it and treat her with respect!?"

"Fine! You can have the child!" Shocked, I almost opened my eyes, until he added, "When I'm dead!"

My eyes quickly fluttered open. I was me again, laying in bed in the Slyterin Girl's dormitory. I took a deep breath.

Until then I had forgotten all about that day. It was so long ago, I was surprised I remembered. So many questions were running through my head: Why hadn't I remembered sooner? Why had I never noticed that the man was Uncle Severus? Who was Lily? And, most importantly, why had my father wanted to keep me?
