I starred at myself in the mirror for what felt like five minutes. I couldn't believe what was staring back at me. My hair was bubblegum pink. I picked up a chunk of it and held it in front of my face to make sure what I was seeing was correct...It was.
"Pansy!" I yelled before I could stop myself. She tricked me! Worst of all, I fell for it! How could I have been so stupid? I knew she was to mean to get me anything for Christmas! Why was I so blind?
Raging, I marched out of the bathroom, only to run into a third year that was walking by. She gave me a look over and started laughing. I blushed as she pranced away, still snickering. I ran back into the bathroom and put my hair back up in the towel.
I could worry about killing Pansy later. first I needed to get rid of this pink hair.
I pulled out my wand and tried to transfigure it... nothing. I tried again. Same result.
'Okay,' I thought, 'I'll just go to Uncle Severus. He'll know what to do'. I looked in he mirror again to make sure that all my hair was hidden under my towel before leaving the bathroom and going down in to the Common Room. On my way to the door some idiot ran into me and fell to the floor.
"Watch it!" I turned around to see Gregory wearing a Quidditch cap pulling himself off the ground, holding a broom. "Gregory? Where are you off to?" I helped him up the rest of the way. He dusted himself off.
"I'm meeting Sarah Beth!" He grinned as he said her name. "Why is your hair in a towel."
"Pansy." I pulled up the edge, revealing a bit of the pink. He started to laugh.
"Pink!? Ha!"
"It's not funny..." I glared at him.
"Okay, okay," He took a deep breath. "Do you want this?" He took off his cap and handed it to me. "I got it for Christmas from my cousin, but I think you need it more than me. You look stupid with a towel on your head."
"Thanks." I took off the towel and stuffed all my hair into the red and black cap. "Can you see any of it?" I asked.
"Your good!" He gave me a thumbs up and sprinted out the door. I shook my head. Good ol' Goyle. It was had to believe that this time last year I hated him.
Shaking my head, I also went out the door and down the hall to my Uncle's office. I knocked on the door.
"Yes?" I head his familiar voice say from the other side.
"Uncle Severus?" I questioned. I heard the sounds of him unlocked the lock before he opened it. He eyed me with curiosity.
"Eleanor? Why do you have that ridiculous thing on your head?" He reached to take the cap off my head, but I stopped him.
"Don't!"
"What?"
"Not out here!" I pushed past him and ran into the office. He turned around to face me, baffled. "Close the door!" He did, still facing me.
"Eleanor, what is the meaning of this?" I looked down, embarrassed.
"Fix it..."
"Fix what?"
Slowly, I lifted the hat off my head. My hair spilled around my shoulders in pink locks.
"Fix it..." I said again.
"Oh my... It looks like you've gotten yourself in quiet a predicament."
"All I did was wash my hair!" He raised an eye brown. "Pansy got me shampoo for Christmas- I know, that's mocking in it's self- but I was stupid enough to use it." I lowered my eyes again. "And now I'm going to be a laughing stock." A single tear spilled down my cheek but I quickly held back the rest. He awkwardly laid a hand on my shoulder.
"Do not cry over this. Have you tried transfiguring it?" I shook my head yes. He pulled out his wand and waved it, trying himself. IT didn't work. He sighed as I sat down and laid my head, face down, on the desk.
"I can brew something that will return it to it's original color." He offered. I lifted my head. "But it will take two weeks.
"Ugh!" I laid my head back down.
"You'll be fine." He assured and started gathering ingredients from his cabinet. "But for now you will just have to tough if out."
