Before it's Too Late

When I woke up I found myself in my Uncle's office. I was laying on a sofa, covered by a thick, warm, black blanket. It must have been his bookcase transfigured, because it was pushed against the wall where it had been. I sat up, feeling the back of my head. It was throbbing.

"It's good to see you are up." I jumped. Uncle Severus was sitting at his desk, grading papers.

"What did you do?" I asked, alarmed. What had exactly happened last night?

"Don't fret. I only knocked you out."

"What! Why!? That's creepy! Wh-"

"Because you were over reacting."

"I was not- amnot! Trawlawny said You-Know-Who would return and he is!"

"Trawlawny is a blithering old loony!"

"She predicted Him coming back! And he is!"

"Hush your mouth!" By this time we were yelling in each other's faces, practically nose to nose.

"My Father told me, too!"

"Your father is dead!"

"He must not be completely! He's talking to me in my dreams!"

"Dreams! That's precisely what they are! Figments of your imagination!"

"They're more than that! He's not dead!"

"You are in denial!"

"Trawlawny is right! He's coming back! And that also means someone is going to die! One of the champions!"

"Eleanor!"

"Tonight!"

"Eleanor!"

"Uncle Severus-"

"Shut up!" I drew back and went silent. "You are out of order!" I still gazed at him, angrily. Why didn't he believe me? This was a serious matter!

"You don't believe me..." I finally wispered. He unconciously touched his left forearm.

"There are things you should not be messing with."

"So it's true! You know! You have known!"

"I never said that!"

"Yes, you-"

"Silencio!" He flicked his wand, and suddenly I couldn't speak. "I want you to stop all of this nonsense at once. Understand?" I shook my head yes. "Good." He waved his wand again, lifting the spell.

"You're right." I took a couple steps towards the door. "I think I'm just tired... What time is it?"

"It's almost seven p.m." Whoa. I was out that long?

"Is the task still happening?"

"As far as I know."

"Oh, well, I might as well go catch the end." I went the rest of the way out of the door and closed it. Cautiously, I walked down the hall and turned the corner. From there, I broke into a sprint and then, finally, a run.

I had to tell someone. If I didn't, someone was going to die! I could tell Dumbledore! He would believe me!

Running through the front doors, I started panting. The darkness didn't help much. I had a hard time seeing where I was going, but I had to get to the Quidditch Field.

Suddenly, I tripped over a branch, falling to the ground. I hurriedly got back up; I was almost there.

Finally, I ran into the field, only to be greeted by a great gasp. The crowd became restless. I looked around, trying to find the source of the commotion. The person nearest me pointed the the front of the maze.

I almost fell over when I looked. I couldn't make out who it was, but someone was hopelessly clutching to someone else...Someone lifeless...Someone dead...I was too late.
