The four of them scuttled past the crowd of angry people and up the stairs to the second floor, which looked like a living space. On the area on the left was a couch set and a bed that were placed opposite each other. On the area on the right was a series of tables with a curtain above them.
On the tables were a series of launchpads, DJ equipment, and a laptop.Concorde sat on the couch opposite the tables, Daughter sat on the bed, and Umbra simply floated. Cirrus went towards the center of the room, unbuttoning the first two buttons of her white shirt and revealing the skin of her chest.
To this, Umbra's eyes lit up, and he had some wad of cash ready. Daughter saw this, and hit the back of Umbra's head. However, Concorde gave Cirrus a stern unwavering look.
"Do you do this to your visitors?" Concorde asked.
"It does feel cool on my skin," she replied, a hint of seduction in her tone, "I sweat a lot as I drop the bass."
"Not in front of me you will," Concorde replied, a concerned air in his voice, "Please button them back."
The Jorōgumo gave a slight pout as she followed the elf's orders, and then Concorde asked, "Umbra, how come you know her?"
"We were friends back in the day," Umbra replied, "I wanted it to take a step further, but she said I wasn't good enough for her. I did feel dejected, until I met Daughter in one of my flying adventures exactly a few minutes before she murdered Ouranos."
"I had to do that because I wasn't fully committed to our friendship, to tell you the truth," Cirrus replied, "Both of us were on different social levels, and I only played along because of Layarune and Mikayla and Dante's company. And now look, he's in a better place with whom he says the Daughter---"
Her mini speech was cut short as Daughter Wysteria Hourglass forcefully landed her right fist on Cirrus's left temple, shouting, "If you say one more word about my Umbra, I swear I will kill you one hundred times!"
The deejay, now on the ground, held her hands in front of her face, shouting, "Daughter, is it? I didn't mean to, okay?! I was only telling the truth."
"It's okay, Daughter," Umbra said, "I'm over it already, now that I'm with you."
At those words, the spider lady's temper cooled off, and Cirrus stood up, trying to regain her balance while stumbling.
...
Once Cirrus was fine and Daughter was back on the bed, the deejay said, "What brings you folks here?"
"I'm here to get Illoaide back," Concorde replied.
"Illoaide you say? The drider demigoddess?" Cirrus exclaimed, "Then you must be Concorde, son of Corellon Larethian!"
"In the flesh," the elf replied. At those words, Cirrus parted the red curtains, revealing a large corkboard with pictures of the two elves and their adventures tacked to the board. Red threads linked the pictures, often overlapping with each other.
"I've been monitoring your every adventure along with the Leaders of the Hereafter," Cirrus replied, "and I must say, it is an honor to have you around. You and Illoaide are at the center of two prophecies intertwining with each other."
"I see," Concorde replied, "Cirrus, is it? Do you know who and where the Leader of this Hereafter is?"
"In fact, Umbra and I do!" Cirrus replied, "The Leader here is Queen Layarune, our colleague and friend. She lives not far from here."
"That's great!" Concorde replied, "Can you take us to her?"
"Personally I can take you there!" Cirrus said, "You just go and explain to her what you need."
"Thank you!" Concorde replied.
...
Suddenly, rifle shots fired from below. Glasses were being shattered and people were screaming below.
Alarmed at this, Daughter said, "Something bad's happening below us! We must see it immediately!"
At those words, the four scuttled downwards to the first floor, only to find two lunar wraiths standing jn front of them and a few dead bodies on the floor.
