Chapter 26 - Planning a Wedding
Miso soup wafted around the apartment, Takashi stirred, he blearily opened his eyes, and stared up at the ceiling. After reassuring himself that Mayu wasn't around, he sat up, looked at the empty crib, and gave a small smile although not before glaring at his lower torso. His dreams had become more frequent and with more intensity, he rubbed a hand across his face then proceeded to remove himself from the covers. Feet immediately took him to the bathroom, once finished, he exited, and headed to the kitchen where all the delicious smells were exuding. Takashi leaned against the door jamb, dark grey eyes roamed over her figure, today she was wearing a white sundress with maple leaves printed through it, he noted that it tied at the back of the neck, and left her backside bare save for the curve at the small of her back. Kuyomi was blocking most of his view but he didn't mind the infant, in fact, he didn't mind much of anything if Mayu was involved. Fingers combed through his damp hair, it spiked up as the water was flung in all directions, he made sure to leave his shirt off for the day, he didn't want her to get suspicious.
"Good morning busy bunny."
A quick glance over her shoulder revealed those twinkling crimson orbs, "Ah! Good morning Taka! Did you sleep well?"
"I did. What about you? Did Kuyomi keep you up?"
"Yes but I'm fine. I made coffee for me and tea for you."
"You didn't have to. I can try to cook too."
She waved a hand at him, he noticed she was shaping a rice ball but it was different than the usual ones, in fact, he realized that this breakfast was completely different than the other times. "I enjoy cooking, you know this." By her voice he could tell that she was smiling, "Have a seat and it'll be ready soon." Takashi nodded even though her back was towards him, "Before you even ask, I've already fed Kuyomi because I've learned to feed him first then make our food." Again, a smile was on her face, and Takashi sat down to watch her, a smile on his lips, and a twinkle in his eye.
Mayu had finished, she put the bowls of rice on the table first, immediately Takashi noted that there was fried soybeans inside, more plates were brought, they contained three raw eggs for him, one for her, and she placed two bowls of various steamed seaweed with sesame seeds drizzled on top floating in miso soup. He looked down at it then looked at her as she took a seat, "This is different."
"I wanted to try to something new." He nodded, they clapped their hands together, said the morning prayer, and Takashi followed her lead with cracking the raw eggs onto the rice, they stirred it well, she added the soybeans and so did he. He watched further as she left the seaweed on the side, he took a bite first, noting how the soybeans held just a little crunch, and everything stuck to the rice. After the initial bite, he stared down at it then at her, and her brow furrowed in worry, "Is it bad?"
Again he only stared at his food then at her, wondering to himself how she could have been single her entire life before him, and wondering how he was able to procure such a bright Maiden by his side forever. Takashi realized that he was staring into those crimson irises, he could see their future together, it would be filled with happiness, he would make sure of it. Mori was brought back to realization when she had asked him if there was something wrong, her face was bashful, and he smiled warmly at her. "Nothing's wrong."
"Is it not good?"
He held that loving smile on his face, "No, it's very good. In fact I think I like this more than anything else you've cooked so far." Her face turned darker, he chuckled, leaned forward, and whispered, "Careful Snowbelle. I'll make it so that you and your friends have to plan the wedding next week." Her face turned even darker as she busied herself with her food, he chuckled, "I do look forward to teasing you for the rest of our lives." He could see under her long white strands that her face turned even darker, Mori returned to eating his food, "By the way, one rule that applies to you even before we get married, and after." Her face turned up to look at him, "You don't make this for anyone but our family."
