"Lily, are you ready? They're waiting." My dad called from downstairs.

The 'they' that my dad is referring to are the Gray/Sanchez family. We have been once again invited for dinner but the only thing that is going to be different this time is that I won't be attending.

"You know dad, why don't you go without me. I think I'm coming down with something and I wouldn't want to spread it," I replied, with a convincing cough at the end.

"Alright well in that case I'll ask Karen to put in some food for you." He said before leaving.

When I heard the door slam, I quickly leaped to my window to make sure that my father was on his way there and when I saw him entering their house, I ran over to my closet and put on a warm jacket and left the house.

I was currently on my way to Megan's house to borrow her car because I didn't want to get in trouble for taking my dads.

"Are you sure that you don't want me to come with you?" Megan asked once I got to her house.

"Yes Megan, I'm sure." I replied. Besides even if I wanted her to come with me, I wouldn't make her miss out on her date with Xavier.

"It's just that you're not a very good driver and you're going to have to drive for quite a while," Megan called after me as I walked to where her car was parked.

"I'll be fine, I promise." I called back. "Don't forget to call my dad and tell him that I'm sleeping over yours if I don't make it back by 10pm." I said, getting in the car and driving off.

I quickly checked my watch which read 19:00 meaning that I have exactly 3 hours to drive there and back. That shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully.

After driving for about an hour and a half I finally saw a sign that read 'Welcome to Lake Hill'. As I drove past the sign, I was mesmerised by the view in front of me.

Even though it wasn't a long drive from where I lived, I had never been to Lake Hill. You see this neighborhood was full of rich people who had the luxury of buying a house here. So this was definitely not a place for a person like me.

The houses towered over me as I passed them. Some had beautiful fountains in the front garden and others had paved driveways with luxurious cars parked in front. They looked like they were built for kings and queens.

I snapped out of my trance when I heard the engine making a rustling noise.

This cannot be happening right now!

"Megan, we have a problem." I said over the phone.

"What do you mean we have a problem?" She asked.

"There's something wrong with your car, the engine was making weird noises, and now it's not starting," I informed her. I was sitting in the car which I had parked just in time before the engine stopped.

"Have you checked how much fuel you have left?" She asked.

I took a deep breath before exhaling. Of course the fuel tank was empty. This was why I never drive alone.

"Megan it's empty. What am I going to do?" I asked as calm as I could before I freaked out.

"I don't know, is there a gas station anywhere near?" She questioned.
