"I never classed you as someone who would wear pink, fluffy dresses,"
My dress was on the bed and Dylan was carefully examining it with a hint of amusement in his features. I had just come back into the room after putting everything back and putting the bloody towels in the wash. Embarrassment quickly crept up on my face when I saw the dress so I walked over and pulled the dress off the bed and accidentally pulled his jacket down along with it.
A silver bracelet with a star hanging from it fell out. It was my bracelet.
"Hey Lils, I think that we should do something special for each other," Dylan said, his cute features staring straight at me. We were in our pajamas getting ready to go to sleep. We were having a sleepover today to mark the first day of summer break.
"Like what?" I asked, walking across his room and jumping on his bed. His cover had a galaxy on it and whenever I lay on his bed I felt like I was floating somewhere surrounded by big, bright stars. I felt free, like nobody could see me and make fun of me.
"Something that we'll remember each other by, when we grow up and you're too cool to be friends with me," he laughed, jumping up on the bed, resting his head right next to mine.
"I think that's a great idea."
That was the first day of summer, end of 4th grade. It was also the last summer that I spent with Dylan before he left.
That summer Dylan and I decided that we were going to get something for each other- which I thought was really hard to choose because I couldn't think of anything that could represent our whole friendship.
So on the last day of summer break we cycled to our 'spot', which was the small restaurant that I took Alec to a couple of nights ago.
He gave me a blue and purple box, with tiaras covering the lid. I was scared to open it because I thought that whatever he got me was probably going to be better than what I got him.
It was a gold necklace that had the word princess written on it with a heart just above it. The necklace made me realize that Dylan didn't care how I looked or how messed up I was after my moms death, he still saw me as his princess.
I was too afraid to ask my dad for money so I couldn't buy Dylan anything. I knew that we were struggling and that he would flip out if I did. So I went through my things, looking for something that meant as much to me as our friendship and found a silver bracelet with a little star hanging from it. I was something that my mom gave me when I was younger.
When I gave him the bracelet he said that it was perfect and if he ever needed me all he had to do was to look up at the stars and they would guide him to me.
I was holding the bracelet up looking at it, my vision blurry from the tears that were trying to escape my eyes. I felt guilty because the neckless that he gave me was packed up with all the rest of the things that reminded me of Dylan and thrown into my basement.
"That's my lucky charm," he said, putting his feet up on the bed and leaning his head on the back board of Megan's bed, looking up as if he was looking through the ceiling at the stars.
"Why?" I asked quickly turning to him. I know it was a stupid question to ask but when I gave it to him I never had expected it to become something that he treasured for years.
I didn't get an answer because the door bell rang and I knew that Megan was back.
"Who's at the door?" Dylan questioned.
"It's probably my best friend, we're having a sleepover today," I replied, getting off the bed and walking out of the room to open the door.
"Where's Dylan?" Megan whispered, careful not to talk too loud. I pointed towards her room and she gave me a nod.
"So have you picked out a movie yet?" Megan asked climbing the stairs with bags full of candy and chips. Just what I was craving right now.
"No, I didn't have the chance," I said opening her bedroom door. The room was empty, Dylan was not on the bed anymore and I quickly realized that the window was open. So did Megan.
What the hell?
"He's going to get himself killed one day," Megan scoffed, laying on her bed.

This is the second part of chapter 10 just because I thought that it looked a bit unfinished.
The next chapter should be up shortly.
