Broken Embrace

Chapter 17

"I can't believe that you nearly kissed him!" Megan exclaimed. She was obviously over-exaggerating.

"That's not what happened, I already told you." I replied rolling my eyes.

"Yeah but that doesn't mean you guys didn't have a moment," she said as she stopped by her locker to take out some books.

"Whatever. It's not like it meant something. If it had why would he be ignoring me?" I asked.

"Well, I know how we can change that." Megan whispered with a wicked smile on her face.

"How?" I asked confused but before I knew what was happening I was pushed into something hard by Megan.

"Watch where you're going!" I heard Dylan growl.

I turned to face Megan to find that she wasn't standing next to her locker. Great.

"Sorry, I swear Megan barged me," I said, probably sounding crazy seeing as Megan wasn't anywhere near me anymore.

"Whatever." He shrugged and walked past me.

Wow. It really amazes me how one moment he can seem caring and be someone that I feel like I can talk to and the other so cold and distant, as if I was just a stranger.

Yesterday after Dylan went back into the house after what was according to Megan our 'near kiss', he ignored me for most of the time apart from when he told me that Xavier is coming earlier than planned.

The car journey was mostly me and Xavier talking which was weird because he's Dylan's friend and not mine but it gave me a chance to get to know Xavier better.

My first class was biology which sadly I shared with Dylan. Luckily, Lucy was in my biology class which meant that I didn't have to sit next to jerk face.

I'm glad that Megan didn't make me late to this class because Mrs. Peters doesn't like people who come in after her even if they are on time. Weird I know.

"I noticed that you two have the same names," Mrs Peters said as she approached me and Lucy. Obviously her prescription glasses are not strong enough, seeing as she thinks Lucy and Lily are the same name.

"Actua--," I started but was interrupted by her for the hundredth time this term.

"This is not going to work," she explained looking around the classroom. "You," she said pointing at me. "Switch places with Tobias please."

I guess it's my lucky day today because not only is Dylan ignoring me, he is also my new biology partner. 

"Hi there partner," Dylan said cheerfully with a big grin on his face.  "Done ignoring me?" I asked placing my books on the table.

"Who said that I was ignoring you?" He asked stupidly because I know for a fact that he was ignoring me.

I shook my head in response to his question. Why can't he just be normal with me? It seems like every time I'm around he puts up a brick wall to shut me out of his life.

For some reason, this made Dylan giggle. "What?" I asked.

"Nothing. It's just the way your cheeks turn a light shade of pink whenever you get angry. It's cute," he said continuing to giggle.

"How is that funny?"

"It just is, princess." he added.

Before the end of the lesson, Mrs Peters set a group activity. Thankfully, Lucy joined us so it wasn't as awkward as before.

"So, I heard that Lily did you a favor recently," Lucy said to Dylan. Where did she hear that?

"Really?" Dylan said suspiciously. I turned to Lucy and gave her a what the hell are you doing? look. Which she obviously ignored.

"Really. Anyway, Lily has this thing coming up this Friday and she needs a date," she continued. Oh lord, please tell me she's not doing what I think she's doing.

"Go on," Dylan replied intrigued.

"Well, I was thinking, now that she did you a favor you can do this one for her too." Lucy smiled at both of us.

"You don't have to, I wasn't even going to ask you to go with me," I quickly blurted. This is so not the way that I wanted today to go.

"That hurts princess." Dylan said putting his hand over his heart. "I'll do it. I'll go to this thing that you need a date for." He replied.

"Are you sure? Even if it involves you wearing a suit?" I questioned, hoping that he takes back whatever he just agreed to.

"Even if it involves me wearing a suit." He said with a cheeky grin just as the bell went.
