Marinette woke up with a heavy strike in her heart. She hoped her night with the black cat wasn't just a dream.

"Marinette!" Alya waved to her. "I heard about your date with Adrien! It's all what Chloé was talking about!" She pressed her phone on Marinette. "How was it?"

"Alya," Marinette pressed the off button, "between you and me, it wasn't a date. Chloé was annoying Adrien, so I annoyed her back."

"But you were spending the night with him, you can't deny that!" Alya squealed, fangirling.

"It isn't like that," Marinette sighed, "Adrien doesn't like me like that at all, he says he's in love with someone. If you wanna know something, just know this: He's just a friend."

Alya's eye began to twitch, which Marinette didn't know why. "Are you serious? Fine, fine okay. Just tell me everything that happened last night!"

"What?" Marinette shrugged. "All I'm gonna say is that...well...a lot of hand touching involved. That's it!"

"Mmm hmm." Alya chuckled. "Are you sure you're not in love with Adrien?"

"W-what? No! Why would you think that! He-he's just a friend...a-and it wouldn't work out, anyways." Marinette stuttered, but she didn't know why.

"Mmhm, well here comes your cat now. Catch you later." Alya waved bye, and Adrien took her place.

"Well Marinette, your knight is here to escort you to class!" He took her hand to kiss, but she reluctantly pulled away. Adrien raised an eyebrow, confused, "What was---"

"Sh-shouldn't we head for class, now?" Marinette walked passed quickly, but he was right on her heels. "Wouldn't wanna b-be late now."

She tries to slap herself on her cheek a bit, just to make her snap out of it. She's having this feeling in her stomach that's weighing her down whenever she looks at Adrien now, she doesn't know what it is.

***

By the end of the school hours, Marinette has barely spoken a sentence with no more than three words to Adrien the whole time. It confused him, considering she has never even once ignored Adrien before. Every time he tries to flirt even a tiny bit, she always looks away.

"Cmon, princess, just talk to me!" Adrien rushed to her side as soon as the last bell rang. "You haven't rolled your eyes at me once today, what happened? What did I do?"

Marinette shook her head. "It's nothing, I guess I'm just a bit shaken up. I just need to relax and it will all go away."

"What will?" Adrien asked, but Marinette kept walking.

"Marinette, if you won't let me in, I'm just gonna keep bugging you," Adrien frowned, "or at least stay by your side until you're-"

Marinette stopped, looking away. "I'm telling you, Adrien, nothing's bothering me! Let's just get through the day."

"Conneries!" Adrien exclaimed. "Something is bothering you. I know you, Marinette. You won't talk to me, you won't make fun of me, you won't even look at me! If nothing's bothering you, look me in the eye and say it."

Marinette finally stared at him with a surprised look on her face. She never expect Adrien to question her actions towards him, and she'd never expect him to raise his voice.

"Fine, you wanna know what's bothering me?!" Marinette steamed in hot red blush, finally realizing what all these feelings in her mean, finally understanding all these pits in her heart whenever she's with Adrien. Even if he doesn't return, she was still going to admit it.

Marinette took a deep breath."Je...je t'ai-"

"'Ey, Mar!" Jackson called over. Marinette bit her bottom lip and turned towards him with an annoyed look on her face. "What??"

"You comin' to practice or what?" He asked, making steam coming off of Marinette. She gave one last look at Adrien, "Let's go," she mumbled.

Before she could go quickly, Adrien held onto her wrist. "If you hate me now...just say it. Say it and I'll stop...whatever is making you so closed off. I'll stop annoying you, I'll stop flirting, I'll stop-"

Marinette couldn't take it anymore, and ignored her own feelings and took his hand. "Don't you ever, ever say that, you silly Chat," she gave a small smile, "I can never hate you."

Adrien chuckled, and sighed in relief. "So...so you want me to keep annoying you?"

Marinette rolled her eyes. "Shut up."

They both walked together to the studio, where the team waited for them, ready to practice for the competition in five days from now.
