A/N: This is more of a song AU, I get this stuck in my head. Warning: Surprise.
Basically the song is about the butterflies you get in your stomach when your crush walks into the room and the thoughts that stem from those feelings, I thought it'd fit with our two cinnabuns ;)
Okay enough! Now it's your turn to get this stuck in your head!
Marinette paced herself outside the entrance to the stage of the theater, wearing a black skirt and red top. She was so nervous for her first performance of the day for the Lunar Show, and she's performing with Adrien.
She rehearsed her vocals by singing scales quietly to herself while waiting for their turn to go onstage. Alya was sitting front row, capturing the moment. Right now KDT were dancing to their song, and killing it, too.
"Salut Marinette," Adrien came up to her with his guitar strapped on himself, wearing a black suit and with a green tie. "Ready?"
Marinette stopped her scales and nodded quickly. It'll be just like how we rehearsed. Marinette thought. No need to be nervous at all.
"I gotta admit," Adrien winced, "I'm kinda nervous."
"Really?" Marinette raised an eyebrow. "You? Nervous?"
He shrugged. "It's not my fault I have the jitters, unlike you. You're probably going to do it like it was yesterday's homework."
Marinette opened her mouth to say something, but was interrupt when she heard the announcer say, "And here is Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste singing and strumming Wonderwall by Oasis! Can you feel the love tonight?"
The crowd clapped for them, and Adrien smiled and held out his hand, "Ready, my lady?"
Marinette blushed, and took his hand. Mylené handed her a microphone and walked onstage where the curtain was still dropped.
Adrien sat down on a chair and brought his guitar to his front, a microphone stand stood in front of the guitar to amplify the music. Marinette held tight on her microphone, and Adrien noticed how tense she was.
"Hey," his voice smoothed, "Just like we rehearsed."
Marinette nodded, and the curtain raised. The crowd cheered even louder at the sight of them, and they both smiled. Once the crowd died down, Adrien began strumming the guitar.
Marinette swayed on her feet to the music, and waited for her count.
1...2...3..4...5..
She raised the microphone and sang.
"Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now."She heard many people whooping for her and smiled, continued.
"Back beat, the word is on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now."This was the part where Adrien harmonizes with her softly.
"And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
But I don't know how.""Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall."Marinette held the microphone to Adrien, who sang the next verse.
"Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now."She leaned closer so she could harmonize along the lines with him.
"And all the roads that lead you there were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how."Marinette wasn't thinking at all, but she was caught up in the moment. She stayed with Adrien, and wrapped one arm around him.
And she didn't flustered at all.
"I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall."Adrien continued this chorus solo.
"I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall."They sang the last chorus strong, together as a duo.
"I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me."Adrien ended the strum, and the crowd began to cheer and clap for them. The curtain dropped in front of them, and they left the stage.
The duo came back outside, Marinette let out a deep breath of air. "Bien joue, Adrien. We only have to do that again five more times today!"
"You still sing beautifully," Adrien smiled, holding the guitar in his hand.
"You..erm..." Marinette stuttered, "You too."
He smiled once more, and turned his attention back to his guitar, blushing.
***
It was their last performance of the day, and Marinette was just itching to get onstage and rest. Her voice was getting a little sore, but drank down a quick cup of tea to help soothe it.
Adrien came up again.
"S-salut," he stuttered. Marinette find that funny, she never heard him stutter before, "Last performance. You ready?"
Marinette nodded. "Ready as I'll ever be."
As soon as the crowd cheered for Mylene, they knew they'll be up next.
"Hey, Mar?"
"Yeah?"
"I wanna ask you something..."
A/N: SURPRISE! I know this may come off as lazy, but you know with finals and all--
But finish the story! What do you think Adrien wants to say? Will he say it just in time? Will I ever return to studying after these random questions? Will you actually finish the story?
Find out on Flurbary 13, 2089 on FightFairies three day weekend!
