I walked through the front door of my house holding my flowers and donuts. I looked up to see my mother tapping her foot. She sat in the foyer in the chair that no one ever sat in or maybe everyone just forgot it was there. I had to admit my mom looked very nice. She was wearing a navy blue scalloped top that I saw her buy from J.Crew a few months ago with white linen pants and silver sandals.
"Hot mama." I complimented raising both of my eyebrows as I closed the front door
A small smile grew across her face "You forgot to mention that you had to go to cheer practice to me. Anyways you have about thirty minutes to get washed up. Grayson told me he saw you today."
"Oh yeah speaking of Grayson you do know when you text someone you don't have to use an emoji in every single message you send?" I questioned
She nodded her head "Looks more lively that way, though. Are those the really nice like almost twenty dollars a dozen donuts? And those colorful flowers. Who are you talking to at school? Boyfriend?"
"Yeah, these are those almost twenty dollars a dozen donuts. Want one?" I offered as I opened the box
I watched her read the lid as I opened them "I thought you were going to homecoming with Grayson?"
I nodded my head as I passed her the box "I am. He just asked me formally today. With my favorite donuts and flowers."
"Well isn't he the sweetest thing ever? Let me put those flowers in a vase. Way too pretty to let them go to waste. Now go get dressed or take a shower!"My mom said taking the flowers out of my hand
"Who's the secret guest?" I asked before I headed up the stairs
My mom glanced at me but ignored me on purpose as she walked to the kitchen. I sighed as I walked up the stairs. I walked into my bedroom and closed the door behind me.
I opened the closet door trying to find something to wear. I grabbed an olive colored soft pocket tee, dark wash skinny jeans, and necklaces that paired well with the outfit.
I showered, washed my hair, and then got dressed.
I did the same light makeup that I always did.
As I walked out my bathroom, I grabbed my phone off of my desk. It was now 6:55pm. When dinner started at 6:45. I'm surprised my mom wasn't practically trying to bang my door down.
I walked into the dining room to see my mom, Amelia,Grayson, and "Andrew?"
I realized how it came out and that my brother was sitting at our dinner table. I said Andrew confused and almost like I didn't know who he was. It was just he just hadn't sat down and had dinner with us since before he left for college. Not to mention that before he left for college, Andrew and my parents weren't on the best terms, to say the least.
"I'm sorry it's just you're the last person I expected to see here. Or second to last. I thought the surprise guest would be Catherine or Gillian or Madison." I explained myself "Sorry I'm late I had to wash my hair and everything."
"Well glad you could join us take a seat." My mom ordered sitting next to Amelia
I sat in between Grayson and Andrew. "
The timer in the kitchen went off
"Dinner is ready. I'll be back in a second." My mom informed us
She got up out of her chair and went into the kitchen. I didn't even know what she cooked, but whatever it was it smelled great.
"Well, thought you swore you'd never come back here?" I said looking at Andrew
