Today was the day. Today was the state championship. All the cheerleaders, football players, band members, and color guards were getting in a bus and taking a thirty-minute drive to the stadium. We were playing against Tampa High and everyone at Ocean City High School HATED Tampa high with a passion. Especially Ryan and Kyle.
I was sitting in Madison's car with her since we decided not to take the bus full of cheerleaders. We were both in our uniforms, makeup was done, as well as our hair. We were ready to cheer the football team to victory.
"I think Blake and I might be getting back together. We'll probably never be like you and Grayson, but we're working things out." Madison told me as I looked out the window
I turned my head towards her, "What do you mean like me and Grayson?"
"You and Grayson were made for each other. You guys actually never fight and he actually talks about a future with you. Blake never does that with me." Madison started
"You have no idea how much Grayson really changed and he did that all for you. He let go of the partying, the drinking, lying, and all those bad habits. Blake hasn't and I don't know what to do anymore! He told me he was going to Tallahassee with his parents, but he went to some party and got wasted. Plus, he slept with someone else." Madison rambled
I looked down at the ring Grayson gave me.
"I had to go through at least four guys before I got to him. If you don't think it's meant to be in your heart, don't force it. Do what's best for you. You need to aim to be Madison and Blake or Madison and some other guy. Not me and Grayson. Cause trust me, we do have little petty arguments that make me rethinks everything we are. Then I look into his eyes and I'm like Damn. He's mine and I refuse to lose him." I babbled as we pulled into the stadium that was already packed with kids from our school and Tampa high.
Madison gave me a look, "Thanks for the talk. Now let's go."
Madison and I, along with the rest of the kids who were on the buses or drove themselves walked into the stadium. The stadium that was pretty packed, not as much as a professional football game. One-half was packed with our school colors and the other with Tampa high's school colors.
I dropped my stuff on the sideline and looked around before I spotted a sign that said In Memory of Garret Cooper. Then I felt a hand on my butt and I turned to see Grayson who handed me his phone.
"Read it." He said moving his hand up to my lower back
Hello Grayson,
We are deeply sorry about the passing of your father. The stadium staff just wanted to inform you that the R.J. Stadium, will now be renamed Garret Cooper Stadium. The sign will officially go up on June 12 at 9 am. We'd like for you to be there.
Thank you."Wow." I said shocked as I handed Grayson his phone back that he threw into his bag "That's something isn't it."
Grayson nodded, "So you're coming over to my house after the game, so we can look for an apartment?"
I grinned and started blushing. Yes, I'm aware that we probably wouldn't move into the apartment until after graduation which was approaching in a few months. But we wanted a good selection before the other UF kids got to them.
"Actually, do you wanna go to a movie and then dinner or something?" I asked Grayson
"How about an actual dinner date? I'll drop you off at your house, you get all dolled up then I'll pick you up in an hour and thirty minutes and we go on a date." Grayson proposed
I smiled, "Like a date-date?"
"Yes, like a date-date." Grayson gave me a smile back "Are you excited?"
