I entered the coffee shop bleeding. Lulu rasied an eyebrow at me. "You're bleeding?"
She pointed out. I nodded.

"Yeah I know. I..." I licked the blood from my lips. "I fell."

"You...fell?"

I just nodded and sat down. I couldn't help but notice that Avi and Lulu were sitting very very........very close.

"So.....How'd you meet Elisha?" I asked Lulu as I shot lazers at the small space between her and my bass friend.

Lulu laughed. "Funny story. I met her at a bus stop. She talked into her phone so loud, I had to scream at her to shut her up."

Elisha snorted. "Yeah. I was talking to a friend. I haven't seen him in a while and I was  excited. You had to forgive me."

"Oh that guy with the purple hair? I love him! He's so adorable, with the dark eyes..."

Mitch.
I was certain of it.
They were talking about Mitch.
I stared at Avi to see if he was thinking the same thing, but he was just staring at Lulu blankly.

"You know a guy with purple hair?" I asked.

Lulu nodded. "Yeah. I met him when I slept over at Elisha's. They live together, Elisha and..what was his name? Micky? Marty?"

"Mitch."

Avi's lips curled into a smile, but quickly pulled themselves away.

"Are you talking about the Mitch?" I asked frantically. Why wasn't Avi confused?

"Yes baby we are." Elisha sang.

"How....how....."

"Scott."

Avi.

"Stop it. Mitch hates us and it's not fair to keep asking about him. Let's just.....stop."

I stared at him.
I couldn't believe it.

"Avi Mitch cannot be forgotten and you know it." I said, staring at him. He shrugged.

"Well he hates us. I don't even know if he remembers us or not."

"Avi how could you say that? We promised. We promised that we would find him one day. As long as it takes."

"Well you have your boyfriend." His green eyes zoomed into mine. "I think that explains stuff."

I lost words.
He was right.
But we couldn't forget Mitch like this.

"I know..." I admitted. "And that's the biggest thing I regret in my life, besides letting Mitch go."

"Why?" Lulu asked, looking curious. "You don't love him?"

"No, I do. That's why I regret it so much. He's a great guy. Faithful, kind, loving.....That's why I feel so bad about going out with him without me having any feelings for him.

"I know this is weird, saying this now, and I know it's too late, but......I never forgot about Mitch. All these years..."

"Scott." Avi said grimly.

"Turn around."

I did, and faced...

"Alex..."

His eyes were filled with tears.

"Thank you, Scott. For telling me the truth."

Then he ran off, crying.

I stood up and ran to the door. "Wait!!"

"This is why you can't have Mitch." Avi's words stuck in my brain like bullets. "You have so much people to hurt, even without Mitch in your life."

I decided to think about that later. I ran out.
