"Wh....what are you doing here?"

Elisha looked beaten. Her lips were bleeding and her pale skin was bruised and scarred. Her eyes were full of scorn and humilliation. If I had asked where she'd rather be at that second, I know she would've gone on for a long time.

"Ah, young vampire. You're so weak. You still think of this one as a friend? She's a fiend. If you haven't noticed...that's why she's here. So I taught her a lesson."

"Y....you raped....her...?" I glared up at the huge man gloating down at me. Elisha got to her hands and knees and tried to stand, failing, to her dismay. On her bleeding wrists were a pair of silver handcuffs that sparked whenever they touched skin.

....Silver....

"Actually? Just a small 'lesson'. I told you." I rolled my eyes. "Come on. Tell me the truth. I won't bite. Well I just did, but-"

"Mitchelle, This girl is the one you've been looking for all this time. She's the fake Lulu."

"Oh please, and I'm Beyonce. There's no way-"

Suddenly Elisha looked up, and her frightened expression was enough for me to stop talking. Her eyes flashed red and her fangs shone. Rick laughed.

"She's been doing that for hours. It's special metal, hunni. They don't call me 'The Great Vampire Hunter' for nothing."

"Actually where we came from, they just call you bitch with a gun," Rick rolled his eyes and knelt by Elisha. "Hey honey. I knew Mitchelle would believe you. You really wanted to trick this sweet, stupid little guy?"

"What are you talking about?" Elisha suddenly charged at Rick with amazing speed. He raised an eyebrow, looking surprised. He backed away and soon there was a bullet in Elisha's shoulder.

"NO!" I shrieked, running towards my beautiful friend. She coughed and fell to the ground. Her handcuffs sparked.

"Leave her out of this. You must be mistaken."

"Oh really? I caught your thief and you're calling me a liar. Stupid bitch. Then don't believe me. Keep on wondering after the 'fake Lulu' for all that's worth. She's here right now."

I was going to say 'Yeah and I never slept with your son', when I wasn't so sure. A sudden doubt caught me and I hesitated. Rick noticed.

"Doubt, vampire?" Rick chuckled. "It's okay, sweetie. Just ask her. She'll give you the answers."

"Mitch," Elisha called out, speaking for the first time. "Please. Leave Texas. Leave LA .Go home."

"Haven't you seen the news lately? The Vampire Hunters are out searching for our kind. They're out in our home. There is no home for us. Not-" I took a deep breath.

"...Not anymore."

"Then go to Asia." Elisha begged. "To Japan. To Korea-"

"Elisha stop it. You know there is no where on this earth we'll ever be safe. That's why I have to do this. I don't care about the fake Lulu, I never did. You think I never thought about your late night disappearences? You think I never wondered about all the blood on your shirt? Yes, I knew you were upto something. But I didn't ask but I knew you would come to me someday."

"Why do you think I bother to come all the way to Texas for a meal? If you don't scare humans, they will overthrow you. They will cut your heart and leave you to bleed out if they have to. But you never seemed to understand. You always tried to see the good in humans and since you left the identity Lulu' alone, I decided it was the best way to scare them. If I hadn't, we'd already be dead by now-"

"AND LOOK HOW THAT TURNED OUT. OUR 'HOME' IS GONE. LOOK AT WHAT YOUR BASTARD HUMANS ARE DOING RIGHT NOW. THEY'RE SCARED TO DEATH, AND THEY'RE OUT TO DESTROY OUR HOME. CAN'T YOU SEE WHAT YOUR OWN ARROGANCE BROUGHT UPON ALL OF US? THERE ARE NO LONGER ANY VAMPIRES. THE VAMPURE HUNTERS WILL KILL US ALL."

"Stop this, Mitch. Just...stop and let's leave. They will kill us no matter what. Why do you think they caught me? They had no intention to catch you in the first place. They caught me so they could kill both of us with pride. That's what your beloved humans are."

"THEN AVI?" Elisha flinched. "AND SCOTT, AND DEXI? IF YOU'RE SO RIGHT, THEN WHAT ARE THEY? Humans don't have to be our enemies, Elisha. They can be part of us."

"Look how they're treating us." A tear fell from Elisha's long lashes. "Do you really think we could be anything more to them...?"

I was about to answer when a CRASH was hung on the air. A big man with blonde hair stomped onto the pavement to Rick and started to shout at him.  "Father! We had a deal! Stop walking away from me-" Then he froze.

I froze.

Everyone in the room were staring at me with curiousity but my eyes never left the big man staring at me.

".....Mitch," Scott said quietly.

"Scott." I said shortly.
