The car ride is silent, at least when it comes to conversations with my parents. They are both too busy talking on the phone with their clients or employees. We don't have that big connection that we used to have when I was little. Since I started dancing in the Academy of Arts they've been more into their jobs. You'd think it would be the other way, but no. They both work in advertisement. I mean, don't get me wrong, we have all the money we need and even more sometimes. But we lack of family time. I just wish sometimes they could forget about work.
Since it's Friday they had the time to come pick me up, although they're actually taking me to Ari's house. We've been friends since we were 1 year and a half. So, we are basically like sisters. We've done everything together. We were Girl Scouts, we started dancing together, we've been in chorus together, we've been in role plays together, we even got the shots together one time. We are, as we like to call it, Partners In Crime. We still have our differences. For example, when I'm stuck with a song in my head or something similar, it's going to be there for more than two week. Her, she doesn't have it stuck for so long. She knows how to play the guitar. I know how to play the flute if that counts. She's an artist since forever, it comes naturally on her. I have to work for it. I'm more of a fangirl than she is, even if sometimes she actually falls for it to. Our taste in music is similar, but she's more into alternative bands, and I'm more into rock/pop bands. We still manage to be quite a complement. Because we're just there for each other at all times.
The drive to her house is not that long. As we get close to her house I unplug my seatbelt and grab my bag. As the car stops I move to open the door.
"Can you stay here? We have a lot of work to do and we can't pick you up or leave you alone at home" Says my mom as I open the door.
"It's ok. I'll stay here." I say as I close the door and they drive away.
Not even a goodbye.I get to the wooden door in the entrance and knock three times. I'm greeted by a happy and kind woman giving me permission to go inside the house.
"Hi Mrs. Tomson!" I say to the woman as she hugs me tightly and then releases me.
"Oh, Roxane, why can't I get you to call me Jena?" She asks as she smiles kindly.
"Well, I guess I'm just used to it..." I say as a smile shyly.
"Okay... Come on, Ari's up stairs, in her room." She says as she leads me upstairs.
"Sweetie, Roxane is here..." Says Mrs. Tomson as she knocks on the door.
The music is playing quite loudly. She still hears the knocks on the door, because she opens spontaneously. She's smiling really wide and jumping up and down. I can't help but chuckle. Mrs. Tomson leaves downstairs as I go inside Ari's room. Her favorite band is playing, though I still think that she's having a hard time on which band is her favorite.
"Which song is that?" I ask her as she lowers the volume of her computer.
"Everglow!" She says happily.
"Right... So, what do you want to do?" I ask as I sit on the chair next to her bed.
"We can talk..." She says as she sits on her bed.
"About what?" I ask trying to keep the conversation going.
"Charlie..." She says with a concern look.
"Ari..." I say and then stop to think what I'm going to say next.
"Come on... Just say it..." She says with her 'you can let it out now' face.
"I think I want to break up with him. It just doesn't feel the same." I say as I look at the hands on my lap.
"Well, if that's what you want, you know I'm here by your side." She says as she touches my shoulder so that I look at her face.
"Thanks Ar..." I say with a smile.
"That's what I'm here for!" She says jumping off her bed and going to her computer.
I chuckle lightly and watch her every move. I really need to end that relationship.
"Have you decided yet?" I ask to end the awkward silence.
"What?" Ari asks not knowing what I mean.
"Your favorite band... Have you chose which is your favorite?" I ask crossing my legs and sitting straight.
"I think 30 Seconds to Mars is the winner." She says as she scrolls down her playlist on Spotify.
"I thought Colpdplay would win..." I say surprised by the answer.
"Well the recent album is not my favorite, so the vote had to go to 30 Seconds to Mars." She answers playing City of Angels.
"How about you?" She asks after a couple of seconds of silence.
"Oh, come on, I thought you knew?!" I say staring at her with an 'u know me to well' look.
"Right, 5sos..." She says as she smile widely.
"They're just so cute!" I say squealing and then laughing at my reaction.
"I knew you would say that..." She says joining me.
We go down stairs and eat the dinner that Mrs. Tomson prepared for us. It is as delicious as always. We then go upstairs and prepared for bed.
"You'll tell him tomorrow right?" Ari asks as I try to fall asleep.
"Yes... Yes, I will..." I answer to my best friend, then fall asleep immediately.
