XXI

I wake up because of my phone ringing on the nightstand. I rub my eyes and pick the phone up to see the caller's ID. It's Ari.

"Hello?" I say as I sit straight on my bed and yawn.

"Rox, are you ok?" She asks and then I hear some shuffling on the back ground.

"Yeah, how about you?" I ask back at her, getting a little nervous about how she's acting.

"I'm fine. I just... Look, there's something you need to know." She says and I hear yelling.

"Ari... What's wrong?" I ask getting up from my bed.

"Um, well... Did you see the E! News?" She asks again. Now she's scaring me.

"No..." I answer and then start to bite my nails.

"Well-" She says as the line goes dead.

I call her back but it leads me to the voice mail. I get my remote control, turn the TV on and put the E! News.

"Resent to yesterday night there were some rumors about the famous band members from 5 Seconds Of Summer, or 5 s o s, being at the beach and having some great time. Sources got some pictures of them at the beach, but there was something unusual..." Pictures from our time at the beach appear and I find myself tensing. "The hot bassist, Calum Hood, wasn't there at first; and when he got there, he wasn't alone. A lady got there with him and they looked pretty close..." Pictures of Calum and me show up. "They were even seen having a romantic moment together..." A picture of us kissing appears. "The fans are already buzzing about this, but the real question here is... Who is this girl?... There was also -" I turn off the TV, not wanting to watch to this news.

I decide to turn the CNN News, where they give real news.

"Thank you... In other news the fans of the famous band 5 Seconds Of Summer are quite in shock..." Not again... I get the remote to turn it off, but the next things said get me paralyze. "...when their bassist, Calum Hood, had to be taken to the hospital after being on a car accident. This hap-" I turn the TV off, grab my keys and run downstairs as I call Michael.

"Rox-" He starts to talk but I cut him off.

"What hospital?!" I say as I get in my car and turn it on.

"St. Vicent..." He answers. With that I hang up, throw the phone on the passenger's seat, and speed out of my driveway.

Shit! I need to get there, I need to get there as soon as I can. I take every shortcut I know to get there as fast as I can, not caring if I break any driving rules. Then it happens... I had to go through there. The scene itself makes me want to break down and cry. Cal's car is there completely destroyed. The other car impacted his side, and it's nearly broken compared to his. There's glass all over the floor. His window is broken and the door is bent to the inside of the car. There's also blood on the seat. No... Blood is not a good thing. The car behind me honks and I speed away. Almost there Cal...

I get to the hospital and find a place to park, which is hard, since the lot is full. I get out of my car and I can feel my heart beating faster. When I'm getting close to the entrance I start felling out of breath. Oh, no... Fans and people from the TV stand at the entrance of the hotel's lobby. I try passing through the crowd, receiving a few "Hey watch it!" and "Wait for your turn!". I get to the entrance which is surrounded by guards. Shit.

"Um... Excuse me I need to get in..." I say to one of the guards.

"Sorry Miss... Can't let you in..." He answers.

"I need to see Calum..." I can't do it anymore, his name slipped out of my mouth, I need to see him.

"This is not a meet n' greet, lady..." He says.

"But I'm his girlfriend!" I yell at him.

Lots of girls say "yeah right..." or "I'm his girlfriend, not her...".

"Well, as you can see, you're not the only one who got the idea of using that excuse." He says, now mad.

"But-" I start as he cuts me off.

"You're not going in!" He says.

I start breathing faster and try to find a wait out. But a way out from the mob and into the hospital. I look around and I get an idea.

"Um... Some girl over there is getting in..." I say to the guard as I point behind him.

He turns and I see my opportunity. I go under the tape and run to the entrance, guards calling for me to go back. I keep running and I finally spot the reception's front desk.

"I need to know where Calum Hood is..." I say, once I get to the desk, breathing quickly.

"Sorry, I can't give you that information..." Says the nurse from behind the desk, looking at me with an apologetic look.

"You don't get it I have to-" I start to explain as one of the guards grabs my hand.

"You need to leave Miss..." He says, he's obviously mad at this.

"No! I'm not leaving until I see him! You can't make me-" I start yelling now, I'm too worried to even realize how I'm acting. Then a guard grabs me by my waist.

"Let go of me!" I scream. I'm not even thinking about me, I'm thinking about him. I need to get to him. "Let! Me! Go! You are not gonna-"

"What's going on?" Says Luke as he get to the lobby.

"She was trying to get in..." Says the guard that didn't want me to come in.

"Well, she can... She's Cal's girlfriend..." Luke says and the guard lets go of me.

I run towards Luke and hug him for a second. We then pull apart and he takes my hand walking somewhere else.

"How's Calum?" I ask as we walk.

"He got out from the surgery about a minute ago. But we haven't seen him. This way..." He says leading me through the hall.

We get to where the rest of the guys and Ari are sitting. As soon as we approach they look up and Ari stands up and gives me a hug.

"My phone had to die in the worst moment." She says. I just hug her and tell her it's okay.

"Calum Hood's family?" A doctor asks as he approaches. We all nod. "I'm Doctor Martinez. I was in charge of Calum's surgery. He got a wound on his abdomen from one of the parts from the door of the car and he hitted the steering wheel with his head quite hard. But the surgery was successful, and he woke up for a while and he knew where he was." He says looking at all of us.

"When can we see him?" Asks Ashton as he takes Ari's hand. I love that they're together.

"Now, but for today only one..." He answers. They all look at me.

"Guys, you should go..." I say as I look at them.

"You went through a lot to get in here... You go first." Says Luke. I just nod.

I follow Doctor Martinez till we get to a door that says 'A27'. He opens it and lets me in.

"If he wakes up, push the button that's on the right side of the bed." He says and then leaves.

I turn to look at Calum and feel tears go down my cheeks. I take a seat from one of the corners of the room and put it on the right side of the bed. He looks peaceful, but I'm just scared, because I don't know how he'll be when he wakes up. I take his hand and just cry, of happiness now, because he's alive at least. I rest my head beside his hand and just close my eyes. Eventually I fall asleep.
