Star In The Shadow // CTH [Editing process]

XXIX

I lean down to close the straps of my heels. The dress is hanging in front of me. My makeup's done. A mixture of a orange, white and yellow eye shadow, and red matte lipstick. I stand up and take the dress to put it on. I slip into the dress and look at myself in the mirror, trying to decide what to do with my hair. I decide to do an up-do, and I leave some peaces out to make it look more sophisticated.

Once I'm done I decide to show it to Calum, who is probably getting into the airplane. I take my phone and open the camera app. I take a picture in front of the mirror, and then open the message app.

To Cal❣️: *image* Tataaa!

I put the phone on the bed, and check that I have everything in my purse. Lipstick, pen, wallet, tiny mirror, and tissues (just in case). Just as I close my purse, the phone buzzes. I pick up my phone and unlock it to look at the message.

From Cal❣️: You look hotly beautiful! [puppy with hearts emoji x6]

To Cal❣️: Thanks... Wish you could be here... 😞😘

From Cal❣️: I miss you already babe. 😞 But I'll call you when I land... I love you Rox! 😘😘😘🤗🤗

I smile at the message before answering.

To Cal❣️: I miss you too... And okay! 🙃🙃 Wove u! 😘😘

Before locking my phone, I receive another message from him.

From Cal❣️: I wanna party all night, 'till I can't stand. 😝😝😝😎😎

I raise my eyebrow at the text.

To Cal❣️: 😐

From Cal❣️: Maybe I'll get wasted... 😉

Okay, this is weird.

From Cal❣️: Sorry babe... Michael took my phone... 🙄

I chuckle at the text, and then reply.

To Cal❣️: 😆😆 It's ok... Tell them I miss them... 😊

From Cal❣️: They say the miss you too... And they also ask if you read the letter...

The letter, I totally forgot about it... I check my suitcase, since the wedding's reception was at a hotel, and find the letter in one of the pockets. Before reading it, I receive a text from Calum.

From Cal❣️: We are going to take off... I love you! Call you when we land. 😘😘

To Cal❣️: Love you too! 🤗🤗😘

I put my phone down, knowing that he won't text me back, and look at the letter on my lap.

From: Luke, Michael and Ashton

Wonder why Calum's not in it?

I hesitantly open the envelope and take out the letter. As I start to read, I already feel like crying.

Dear Roxanne:

It's been a pleasure getting to meet you. We didn't have much time to spend with you, since Calum always wanted you for himself. Lol. Joking! Anyways, the time we got to spend with you was amazing. It made us remember that we are normal people after all, and we appreciate that you helped us with that. We also want to thank you for being so patient and caring. We know we are not easy. But we are really grateful that you stayed with us, and specially with Calum.

We thank you for helping him. He was getting better, he just needed another someone to make him open his eyes. And you were and will be that someone. We believe that you guys will keep this thing going, because you guys are soul mates (said by Ashton).

Thank you for bringing another girl to the group also. Ashton literally is a happy puppy thanks to you. And if you meet another girl please introduce her to us ;) (said by Michael). Also thanks for trying to teach us how to dance. At least we got the wave right. :D

Flashbacks of the time I tried to teach them how to dance go through my head. We were bored out of our minds and I thought it would be fun. Being honest, they should stick to singing and playing instruments.

I guess that's all we have to say... Don't forget to text and call us once in a while. We'll miss you!

I smile as the tears roll down my cheeks. I wipe my tears away, and fold the letter, putting it inside the envelope. Just as I'm about to put the envelope on my suitcase, mom comes in with Ashley, my brother's fiancé. She's wearing a white strapless dress that has a mermaid tale shape, which has some folded areas around her waist and beads all over the tale. She looks wonderful, and nervous.

"Major crisis here!" Says mom as she closes the door and helps Ashley with her dress.

"Were you crying sweetie?" Mom asks once she looks at me.

"I just read the letter the guys wrote me..." I smile at her, and then straighten my posture. "Anyway, what can I do to help?" I ask to both of them.

"My bridesmaid didn't come and I was wondering if you could be my bridesmaid? Also... The girl that would do my hair called saying she was sick, and I don't know what to do..." Ashley says almost freaking out.

"Calm down, I'll be your bridesmaid with honor, and I can do your hair..." I say making her sit down on one of the chairs so that I can do her hair.

I decide to leave her hair with the curls she has naturally. Since we are a little bit late already. I take the half top of her hair, and do slime twirls, adjusting them with bobby pins. I take some tiny flowers my mom brought, and put them where the twists are, so that they don't fall. I take some small pieces and pull them out making if look fun and sophisticated. Once I'm done I give her another mirror so that she can look at herself.

"I love it!" She says as she jumps slightly.

"Lets go then!" Says mom rushing us out.

The ceremony was wonderful. The vows were quite funny since they made them.

Right now we are at the reception. My brother giving his speech as the new husband.

"First I want to thank you all for coming. It's been quite a ride for both of us. And all of you people here, have been part of it." He looks around, and continues.

"Today Ashley and I start a new life, and I'm glad that it's with her. And just like today, I know that my love for her will keep growing..." She smiles at him, almost crying, and everyone awes. "...and that we will make a new ride, filled with new ups and down, and memories. I want to have a story as beautiful as the one my parents have made together, and the one Ashley's parents have made. I give this toast for love..." Everyone cheers as they kiss and we all drink our champagne.

They head to the middle of the room, to have their first dance as husband and wife. Both of them smiling at each other.

I smile at them as I recognize the song. It was the song Calum and I danced at that party in my house. The night we had that intimate/nerve racking moment in the kitchen. When he said we would keep in touch. When I was not sure if I was falling for him. The difference from that night and this one is that now I know I fell for him, but he's not with me on the middle of the room.
