Chapter Song: Blink 182 - I Miss You

|||

After dealing with Hazel yet again and locking her away in the jailhouse of the city, the Ambassador and I, or Myrina's mother and I headed down to the courthouse. As we rode in the car to the town hall, Myrina's eyes were locked on her window beside me, she never said a word to me or to her mother since Hazel got free. She was not saying a word to either of us, it seems. Myrina's mother seemed to react the same way as well.

With both of them looking out their windows and acting as if I didn't exist, I could only do one thing. Sit awkwardly in between the both of them and try not to ask questions.

As soon as the car came to a stop and I was out of that suffocating space, I was feeling ten times better. Myrina instantly came to my side and took my arm. I folded my elbow like the traditional way a male would lead a woman.

People were crowding around the town hall, it seems. Ordinary people and soldiers as well. I could see a group of soldiers dressed in black entering the hall with the Paladin's and -- big surprise -- the old fashioned dude from before.

He doesn't see me and just enters in with his Paladin's in toe.

"This should be good," I mumble.

"Don't be stressed," Myrina whispers to me, squeezing my bicep lightly.

I catch Myrina's mother's eye in my peripherals and I know she's already questioning Myrina and I's relationship. I just hope she'll approve. Then again, she hasn't been the best mother, so my guess is Myrina won't care if her mother approves of me or not.

We enter the hall together, with the Ambassador and the guards let us pass. The doors close behind us and I can already see the conflict in the room.

There is an isle leading straight down the hall, to the end is an alter, and on either side of the isle is two groups. The soldiers in black, the Shade's, and the soldiers in white, the Paladin's. They were shouting at each other already, throwing fists and pointing fingers. I take a deep breath, before turning to the Ambassador.

"Follow me," she commands over the chatter and walks down the isle, but the soldiers pay no mind to us as we walk and they continue hurling insults at one another.

The Ambassador motions her hand to a seat beside the alter. She looks at Myrina and pulls up another one from the table behind the alter. She sets it beside mine without a word and Myrina takes a seat, not thanking her mother and releasing my arm. I can hear them both huff.

Once we're seated, Myrina's mother takes her place behind the alter again and clears her throat. When the chatter doesn't die down, she looks down the steps at the old fashioned guy who was seated in the front of the Paladin's. It's been a while since I've seen his smug face. He gets up and turns around, then shouts in his booming voice, "Everyone, sit down and shut up!

The chatter died away almost instantly, I think out of surprise more than fear, really.

The hall gets silent and everyone takes their seats and begins facing forward in an orderly manner. Once everyone was silent, the Ambassador began talking.

"Good afternoon, everyone. Today, I've called you all hear so we can settle this dispute once and for all. I understand you both have your differences, but right here, right now, we're going to settle them. After today, this rivalry you both seem to share will not continue. Am I clear?"

Though reluctant, most nodded, after giving the other side an accusing look.

The Ambassador seems pleased and continues with, "Now, joining me today to help end this all is Erin Skies, or better known as the White Fox." She turns to me and I rise up out of my chair. Murmurs start and I make brief eye contact with the old fashioned dude. He may be one of the only survivors from Windbreak City. Besides my friends, of course.
