Chapter 8.

B-ring. B-ring the phone goes off.
" hello?" I'm still half asleep
"Hey it's George I forgot to tell you you have your own number so it's (569)137-6863
"Okay."
"Get up were going shopping today,"
"Alright I'll be ready in half an hour."
"Okay."

*30 minutes later.*

"I'm ready" I run downstairs
" okay let's go eat I don't feel like cooking and I gave Anastasia the day off ."
"Alright."
"Okay we're do you want to go?"
"Anywhere."
"Hmmm how about Chinese?"
"Yeah sounds great." We drive to Chang's.
"Hi table for two."
"Is Outside okay?"
"Yes."
"Okay ill take you to your table."
"Here you are can I start you off with something to drink?"
"Um a Coke for me and what do you want Harper."
" hmm an iced sweet tea for me please."
"Okay ill be back with your drinks."
"Thank you." I smile
I look at the menu and i see tofu and eggplant on top of  fried rice.
"Ooh I want that?"
"Oh yeah your a vegetarian huh?"
"Yeah"
" okay here are your drinks what can we get started for you"
"Um I'll have the number five plate but with the fried shrimp."
"Alright and for you young lady?"
"I'll have the tofu and eggplant on furies rice."
"Alright I'll go put in your orders."
"Thanks."
"So what did you think about Santa Cruz?"
"It was nice."
"Yeah I like it up there."
"Yeah."
"So are you and Corey dating?"
"Honestly I'm not sure."
"Oh well just see where it goes."
"Yeah."
"So wanna go to the mall?"
"Yeah."
"Alright I'll have my neighbors daughter take you I have a 20/20 interview."
"Alrighty then."
We get our food and we ate. As soon as we were done with the food George pays for it and we head back to the house.
"I'm going to call John to send his Daughter Natalie."
"Hey my Niece is here..yeah the one I was telling you about and I was thinking maybe Natalie can show her around the city and stuff."
"Alright see you at five." He hangs up the phone.
"You might want to change into something you won't mind getting wet in and some extra clothes she's taking you to the beach."
"Alright I'll go get some stuff." I run upstairs I get the shorts and teeshirt I wore. And I get my bathing suit on. I like this suit it reminds me of the fifties. It's a black halter top with matching high waisted bottoms I put the Jean shorts over and I put a tee I made into muscle shirt on and I braid my hair to the two Dutch braids. Aka boxer braids. I put some flip flops and I grab my backpack and put some mom jeans and a long sleeve and my adidas and my black high socks.  It was about 1:30 so I had a while.

* 5:00*
"Harper she's here."
I grab my camera and  run downstairs "alright I'm coming." I yell.
"Got your wallet and stuff?"
"Yeah." I check my wallet.
"Here's your key just incase I'm not here."
"Okay." I put it on my key ring. Which only had a keychain that my brother had bought me.
"I'm Natalie."
"I'm Harper."
"Cool I hope we become great friends."
"Yeah me too."
"How old are you?"
"17 are you hungry?"
" kinda and Is there Anything funky about you?"
"I'm a vegan."
"Hey I'm a vegetarian so it won't be that hard agreeing on a place."
"There's this place I really dig its call for the love of food it's a vegan place wanna check it out?"
"Yeah sound interesting."
" alright." She turns right.
We get there and I see that's there's a lot of people. I look at the menu
" everything looks so good."
" I love this place."
" hey Harper." I turn around to see someone familiar. It was Jim.
"Oh hey Jim." I hug him
" I didn't know you're a vegan?"
" no I'm a vegetarian but I'm working on it."
"Great what can I get you guys."
" I want this." I point to a really good looking pasta.
" I want the special."
"Okay ill get you your food." He says giving us our cups
" the drinks are over there you get whatever you want."
"Ooh lavender tea." I say walking towards the dispenser.
"Want boba?" A guy who looks very familiar asks me.
"What's that?"
" it's  large tapioca pearls ."
"Ooh I'll have some."
"Alright they're right here you turn the knob like this and there you go." They plop into my tea.
"Thanks."
"I'm Joaquin and that's my brother River ."
"I'm Harper." Wait River? Joaquin? As in Phoenix? OMG keep Cool Harper keep your cool.
"Nice to meet you Harper." 
"Yeah is it hard being a vegan I mean I'm a vegetarian but It's not as hard you know?"
"No I was brought up a vegan so it's all in used to."
"Oh."
"Well I gotta get going my foods going to get cold."
" yeah me too it was nice meeting you Joaquin."
"You to Harper." He shakes my hand. Man what a gentlemen
" welcome to Hollywood you meet a lot of celebs anywhere and everywhere."
"Oh My."
" yeah like I met Johnny at the McDonald's next to our house."
"As in Depp?"
"Yeah."
"Killer."
"He is such a hunk ugh even more so in person."
"I would think so."
" here's  your food."
" thanks Jim."
" see you around." He starts walking off
"You too."
We eat and get to know each other a little bit more and we pay for our food and we head to the beach."
"Alright let's go to the beach I promised some friends that if go play volleyball with them and we're going to have a bonfire."
"Cool, are your making s'mores?"
"What is that?"
"You don't knoww what s'mores are?"
"No."
"Alright let's go to the store."
"Alright."
We get out and I grab graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate. I pay for it and we go to the beach.
" hey I brought my neighbor."
"the more the merrier."
" I brought stuff to make s'mores?"
"What are those?"
"Okay you roast the marshmallow on the stick like this and you get a graham cracker and split it in half and you add a piece of chocolate in between."
Everyone does so and I hear a bunch of "mmm." And "yummy."
"Lets play Volleyball!"
"VOLLEY BALL !" We all run
"Okay boys vs girls."
We get on each side of the net and I was in the front row in the middle.
"SERVICE ." The guy yells before the other serves the ball. It's coming to me
"I got it." I hit it and it makes the guys stumble and drop the ball.
"Girls 1 boys 0"
We play. Few rounds before it was my turn to serve the ball.
"SERVICE."
I throw the ball up and I hit it making it easy for the guy to trip in the Sand and knock the net over.
"It's okay I'll set it back up." Some guy says.
" hey you're really good at volleyball." Natalie says.
"Thanks I was on the team back in Albuquerque."
"Oh no wonder."
" okay game back on." They throw the ball to me.
"SERVICE"
I hit the ball upon request and it hits the top of the net and makes it hit the ground where no one was paying attention.
" Boys 1 Girls 5 HAHAHAHH" the girls laugh and jump.
"We WIN WE WIN." The girls tease
"Oh screw." The guys chases us
I run to the water and the guy comes after me and picks me up and I put all my weight down (which isn't much) but it makes us both fall into the water.
"SHIT that's cold."
"WOOOO." The guy shivers.
"Hey. Sorry I dropped you."
"It's okay I hope you would I hate getting picked up."
"Oh" he rubs the back of his neck.
" I'm Harper by the way."
"I'm Josh."
"Nice to meet you josh."
"Same here."
"How old are you Josh?"
"Just turned 15 you?"
"I'm turning 15 next month."
"Nice."
"Yeah."
"You having a bash?"
"I'm not sure."
"Okay if you do let me know yeah?"
"Yeah but I don't have your number."
"Oh right he grabs a sharpie from his wet shorts and writes his name and number on my hand."
"Thanks."
"HARPER LETS GET GOING."
"ALRIGHT."
"Nice meeting you Josh."
"Me too."
I run  and get changed before I get in the car.
" you dress really cute."
"Thanks."
We drive home and I turn on the radio
"I love rock n roll."
"JOAN JETT!" I gasp
"I love her!!"
We both sing and we roll up to the house.
"Thanks Natalie."
"Yeah same." We hug
"Your uncle knows my number so if you want someone to be in the phone for hours I'm your gal."
" alright."
"Bye." I open the door.
"Bye." She walks off.
" hey how was your night?"
George asks
"Cool I met a few people and Joaquin Phoenix and we played volleyball."
"Seems nice and Joaquin is such a great guy."
"Yeah."
" well I'm gonna put my clothes in the hamper." I say struggling with my wet backpack
"Okay gnite."
"Nite." I walk upstairs. I get in my pajamas and I gm get my journal and start writing

Today was full of adventure I went to eat twice today and I met Joaquin Phoenix and some really cute guy named Josh. I played volleyball. Gosh I haven't played In forever. Ever since I got kicked off for "hitting the girl in the face." That was the girl who spiked it! Just cause it was my serve I guess but whatever I really love the sport I haven't gotten a call from Corey. So I'm guessing he's busy. It shouldn't bother me but it does. I really hope I didn't take that kiss the wrong way. Well good night.
I shut the journal and listen to the radio. Father figure is on. Last thing I remember I fell asleep to it.
