'i knew you were gay but i didn't know you were transgender.'
michael got up from the table with tear-filled eyes, and rushed out of the cafeteria before anyone could say a thing.
it hurt calum to see michael look so upset. he didn't find the 'joke' funny like everyone else though. calum saw luke rushing out of the cafeteria, probably to comfort michael. but calum can't take seeing his baby boy sad.
"i dare you to repeat that again, mate." calum yelled towards the guy in a bitter tone, causing the everyone to be quiet.
"calm down baby, he was just joking." alice chuckled, running her hands up and down calum's biceps.
"don't fucking touch me, bitch." calum spat, and shrugged her hand off roughly before making his way to the guy.
"you think you're fucking funny?" calum growled, towering the guy.
"i think i'm hilarious." the guy responded, his lips tugging into a smirk.
calum clenched his first and in a blind rage, he threw a punch or two at the guy, knocking him off his feet, earning a gasp from the crowd that had formed. before he could even do anything else, he was being pulled back by a pair of large hands.
"mate, i think that's enough." ashton said sternly but calum shook his head stubbornly, furrowing eyebrows. ashton huffed at his stubborness and dragged calum out of the cafeteria.
"dude what the fuck, i was about to finish him." calum fumed, pushing ashton harshly by the arm.
"are you fucking serious right now? michael is crying and the only thing on your mind is to finish that asshole?" ashton raised his voice, annoyed with calum at the moment.
calum's facial expressions softened when hearing michael's name. but his eyebrows furrowed when not knowing where his baby boy is.
"now that you've got your shit together, michael and luke are at the library." ashton informed him calmly and calum rushed to the library.
he entered the library, relieved when seeing that there wasn't any annoying and pesky librarians. calum spotted luke and michael on the bean bag, michael's soft sniffles could be heard every once in awhile.
luke looked up and gave calum a sad smile before gesturing calum to sit on another bean bag next to michael.
"hey, michael, look, its calum." luke whispered softly, making michael look up, his green eyes meeting calum's brown ones.
calum's heart ached when seeing michael's bloodshot eyes, messy hair and a sad look on his face. it was a heartbreaking sight, really. michael should always be happy, in calum's opinion. calum hated seeing michael like this.
"hey princess, how are you feeling?" calum asked softly, giving michael a genuine smile.
michael sniffled slightly, before burying his face in luke's shoulder again. calum frowned when michael didn't respond, but instead, calum just combed his fingers through michael's hair and scratched his scalp soothingly.
"i'll take care of michael, if you don't mind, luke. you and ashton can go to class." calum offered. luke hesitated but when seeing a fresh bruise on calum's knuckles, luke nodded eventually.
luke moved michael onto calum's lap and michael whined which made calum frown slightly.
"what's wrong princess?" calum asked, pressing a longing kiss on michael's forehead, shortly after luke left.
"i hate myself so much." michael whispered, his voice cracking slightly at the end.
"michael, don't say that, please." calum said sadly, heart aching once more when he heard michael sniffle.
"why don't you just go back to alice." michael whispered harshly, looking away.
that's when everything started becoming clear to calum. michael was jealous. and upset because of the dipshit's 'joke' of course.
"aw, is someone jealous?" calum teased, attacking michael's face with kisses.
"no! calum, stop!" michael commanded sternly but giggled more as calum kept peppering kisses on his face.
"no calum! i'm mad at you, stop!" michael fisted his hand on calum's shirt, giggling loudly.
"why're you mad at me, kitten?" calum pouted, burying his face into michael's neck, inhaling his scent. michael somehow smelled like milk and strawberry, but calum adored the scent anyways.
"because," michael paused, hesitating but then decided he should be honest. at least that's what karen always told him, honestly is the best policy. "because you were flirting with alice."
calum looked at michael to see if he was actually serious, and raised a bushy eyebrow, "um, no, i wasn't flirting with alice."
michael shook his head in disapproval and huffed, "your hand was on her waist."
calum actually did recall putting a hand on her waist. he didn't know why he did it though. it's not like calum liked her anyways, he thought of it as a friendly gesture.
"it didn't mean anything, michael." calum sighed, "i refer it as a friendly gesture."
michael furrowed his eyebrows, his lips tugging into a frown. "is this just a friendly gesture then?" michael asked, motioning towards them.
"no, this is more of an affectionate gesture. i like you more than her anyways. but like, i don't like her at all if i was being completely honest. by the way, you're cute when you get all jealous." calum told michael and bopped his nose.
michael was quiet for a few minutes, but then blushed slightly when calum's words processed to his brain.
"y'know you're really pretty with or without these pretty clothings and with or without make up." calum randomly commented, breaking the silence.
"really?" michael's tiny voice squeaked, his doe eyes widening, surprised that those words came out from calum's mouth.
"i mean what i say, kitten." calum murmured, his finger lightly tracing on michael's lips.
michael grabbed calum's hand, furrowed his eyebrows in confusion when hearing calum wince and gasped when seeing a purple bruise forming on his hand.
"oh my god, are you okay? what happened?" michael asked as lightly brushed his fingers over calum's bruised hand, earning a hiss from calum.
"don't worry, kitten. i just had to deal with the guy that made you upset." calum replied, pecking michael's cheek softly.
"it's just a small bruise anyways." calum added.
"no calum, it's not even small. its huge." michael pouted, examining calum's hand gently.
"y'know what'd make this bruise better?" calum asked, smirking slightly.
"what?" michael asked, looking into the maori's brown eyes.
"i'd be alright if you kiss it better." calum said cheekily, causing michael to roll his eyes.
"you want me to kiss your boo boo?" michael questioned, raising an eyebrow. calum just nodded, grinning cheekily.
michael brought calum's bruised hand to his soft lips, kissing it lightly as he didn't want to hurt calum.
"i really like you alot, michael." calum confessed, looking at michael in awe.
"i really like you alot too, cal. like, like like." michael said, burying his face on calum's chest.
they both just stayed there, cuddling and leaving a few kisses here and there, despite being in the library and skipping some classes. they didn't care where they were though, as long as they were with each other, everything was alright.
