Chapter Twenty-Seven

Jade's POV

Flashback

Two weeks had past simula nung nag-usap kami ni Althea at kagaya ng sabi niya, she'll win me back.

Araw-araw siyang nagpupunta sa condo ko at nagdadala ng breakfast. Hatid-sundo din niya ako sa office pero hindi pa kami okay. I'm still not okay. Kinakausap niya ako just like before pero I purposely act cold in front of her. Alam ko nasasaktan siya sa ginagawa ko but what can I do? Nandoon pa din yung sakit ng ginawa niya sa akin.

Parang araw-araw niya ulit akong niligawan. She really meant it noong sinabi niyang she'll redeem herself to me. Pero ang tigas ng puso ko. After what happened, all I feel is pain and apathy. I know she's doing her best but I guess it wasn't enough to mend my misery.

Pero sa kabila noon, she didn't stop. It's not that I'm complaining but as much as possible, ayoko muna siyang makita. I needed space. I needed time away from her just for awhile. I wanted to avoid her but she's persistent.

Kaya nga last week, doon na muna ako sa mansion umuuwi para hindi kami magkita pero lagi niya akong inaabangan sa office para maihatid ako. But I always turn her down. Lalo na nung sinabi kong kay David na ako sumasabay pauwi.

I lied.

Of course hindi 'ko gagawin yun dahil alam kong magseselos siya but I have to. Para hindi na muna niya akong kulitin. She was hurt noong sinabi ko yun and I was hurt too, knowing it's me who gave her pain.

"Hey, Jadey! Let's go?" David called out peeping on my office door. I'm too engrossed and stressed out with all these paperworks Ahya Gab wanted me to study. Sabi niya kailangan ko daw basahin yun para malaman 'ko ang pasikot-sikot dito sa kumpanya.

"Thanks, David, pero ang dami ko pa kasing kailangan tapusin. Mauna ka na." I smiled.

"No, Jade. Kailangan mo namang magpahinga. Baka magkasakit ka nyan. C'mon, dali. Ihahatid na kita." David pushed and I just shook my head. Araw-araw niya akong inaalok ng ganito pero hindi ko naman siya ine-entertain. You already know why.

"Sige na, Jade. Kahit ngayon lang please. Lagi mo na lang ako nirereject." He added with a frown and I chuckled. Mukhang hindi din ako titigilan nito.

"Sige na nga. Wait lang, give me five more minutes." I gave in making him smile widely and shot his fist on air. Bigla ko namang naalala si Althea dahil sa ginawa niya. She always do that whenever I grant her wishes. Parang bata na nabigyan ng candy.

I shook my head to shrug her off my mind. I really need to take a break. "Let's go, David." Yaya ko sa kanya dahil pag nagtagal pa 'ko dito, lalo ko lang maaalala si Althea.

"Akala ko five minutes pa?"

"Nagbago na isip ko. Ginawa ko na lang two minutes." I mocked making him laugh.

"Okay, sabi mo eh. Shall we?" David offered his left elbow which I gladly took. We we're laughing until we exit the building but my laugh automatically died down when I caught Althea's eyes, intensely looking at us.

She is casually leaning on her red SUV and I know she's waiting for me. Nakita ko din na may dala siyang isang bouquet ng yellow tulips at isang takeout bag. Hindi ko naman alam na pupunta pala siya kasi usually, nagtetext muna siya if on the way na siya. I was surprise and by the look on her face, so was she.
