Math started normal, as normal as it could with June and Julian around. My teacher asked me to come introduce myself, which I did. Then instead of letting me go back to in between June and Julian, Mr. Ron put me right next to Brandon. Moving the girl that sat there previously to sit between June and Julian.
No one was happy with this.
Well, maybe Brandon, but he seemed impartial, and there was no way to tell with Julian.
Things went from bad. To worse, rather quickly.
"So you're the new girl right?"Brandon questioned, and I quickly turned to him, a bit startled.
"What? M-me?" I blinked a few times, I wondered if he was actually talking to me.
Brandon chuckled and gave a lopsided grin. It was then I realized so many girls-June excluded-had fallen head over heels for him.
"Yeah, you."
I looked away and nervously messed with my skirt. "Y-yeah...I'm N-"
"Nina Foster. I know." Brandon tapped his pencil on his desk.
Wait, if he knows who I am...why did he ask if I'm the new girl?
"You already know me, so why'd you...ask...if...I'm..." I trailed off as I met eyes with him.
Okay. He had the most prettiest green eyes ever! They were a light green and completely complimented his dark brown hair.
"New? Well I need to strike up conversation some how, right?" Brandon winked and placed his pencil down.
I froze. I forgot how to speak, and that was bad. I awkwardly avoided eye contact and nodded stiffly, then turned back to the front. Mr. Ron was talking about geometry, and that was more interesting than looking stupid. Which I guess I already was.
Brandon chuckled again and faced forward too, my hand nervously twitched and flicked my pencil off my desk and under it. I grumbled and bent down the grab it, quickly I snatched it and was pulling it up when something-besides gum-was stuck to the underside of the desk. Curiously I grabbed it and sat straight up.
I placed my pencil down and decided to read the sticky note.
Dear Stranger,
I hope you don't find it strange that I'm doing this, but I thought that
this would be a pretty cool thing to try out :D
Maybe you could write back?
-Your Sticky Note Friend
I raised my eyebrow, was this person serious? I rolled my eyes, this was ridiculous, what person in high school would honestly do this? But then a thought crossed my mind. I had never had a pen pal before, this would probably be the closest thing to one I'd ever get.
So I decided to give this a try, if they didn't respond then I'd know this was a fluke. And this was all worth a try.
Dear Sticky Note Friend,
Hello! I'm kinda glad I found this >u< I've never had a pen pal and
this would be the closest thing I'd ever got to one, lucky me~
So you got a reply, what are you gonna do?
-Stranger
(hopefully I get a better nickname :P)
I laughed quietly as I stuck my sticky note under the desk and started paying attention again. Or, trying to. A certain brunet kept poking my shoulder, so I looked over.
"What did you just stick under your desk?" Brandon tilted his head, keeping quiet, but not subtle.
"N-nothing!" I protested, I hadn't thought anyone was watching.
"So a sticky note's nothing?" Brandon smiled, his lopsided smile.
He knew again! Why did he ask if he knew!? That's more than confusing! I frowned and looked forward, Brandon was cute, but actually annoying. What luck.
On the inside I was wishing class to be over and the next day, I just wanted to know if I was gonna get a reply. After minutes of just doodling or working on problems, class let out and I had homework. I rushed to my locker, though I knew it wouldn't change time, I still hoped it did.
After my last class, biology, I was finally home free. I threw my backpack on and turned, and found June with Julian standing there, ready to go.
"Oh, hi June, Julian." I held my hand up as a greeting then started to walk away. "By-"
"Don't walk away. We have discussing to do." June's coldness that laced her voice made me freeze.
"Wh-what's there to uh talk about?" I faced them, flinching at Junes angry face.
"I don't know~" June smiled sweetly, then scowled. "The fact you conversed with that Goodwin kid."
"I-I didn't want to! He kinda just...made me?" I bit my lip, then I frowned. "What's it to you?"
That was a mistake cause June marched right up to me and clenched my shirts collar.
"Listen here Nina I-"
I watched, somewhat amazed, as Julian walked up and put a hand on June's head. June let go and let out a shaky breath. Meanwhile I was all wide mouthed, and confused. Julian stopped June from, probably, killing me!
"Sorry Nina, I just got angry you defied me, you wont do it again so it's fine." June smiled and waved bye, then walked off.
Standing stock still in the middle of the hall, I watched the weird twins leave. That was NOT normal. There's something wrong with June, I'm pretty sure about that, and I don't want to stick around with her longer to find out if I'm right.
With a nervous gulp I left, hurrying to the bus. Now I was conflicted. I wanted math to come, but not school, where June would be. What sucks is I can't have one without the other.
Quite the problem I've gotten myself into huh?
