Did I expect my mom to believe me at first? Yes. Did she? No.
"What book are you reading?" My mom peered down at me with a unreadable expression.
"The book of my life?" I joke sarcastically. "I'm being serious mom!"
Willow placed a hand on my shoulder, her eyes staring directly at my mom. She had a more serious atmosphere than seemed normal. My mom had to believe Willow.
"Ms. Foster! She's being serious! I swear."
I quickly pulled out my phone and shakily handed it to my mom, as soon as I dropped it into her palm it dinged-signaling a message.
"Who is 'Watcher' Nina? I'm too tired for jokes."
I watched helplessly as my mom gave me a disappointed look and handed my phone to me. The message was a simple hello, an odd thing from Watcher. Unlocking my phone and going to me and Watcher's messages I shoved it back into my mom's hands.
"Mom! Please! Look!"
Maybe I sounded really desperate because-with a irritated sigh-my mom scrolled through the messages. The more she read, the more she seemed concerned.
"This...does seem serious...I'll uh, get the police, but this better not be a prank."
A wave of relief washed over me, I leaned onto Willow a small smile resting on my face. I could finally be relaxed and have a "normal" life again. My phone dinged and my mom walked away muttering incoherent things.
Willow turned me so I faced her, a big smile graced her features, she hugged and squealed softly. "Now we can do sister things! Like braid hair, paint nails, AH! Go to the beach!"
"First, just try braiding this mess. Second, I peel nail polish off as soon as I can. And third, yes!" I pulled away from her and dashed upstairs, "I wanna braid your hair though so hurry up!"
For the first time in a while I relaxed and had fun, I trusted my mom to bring this to the police-they would know what to do. I even thought about inviting over June, that just shows how I feel. That feeling didn't stay for long, as soon as night came the memory of the past night made my eyes stay glued to my balcony.
Whenever I would start drifting off I'd spot something moving and I'd jolt back awake. Eventually morning came, very slowly might I add, and I was dead tired. Willow-of course-was worried and demanded I stay home. The thought of being alone at home scared me still, so I quickly got ready and went on to face school.
"You should really go home! Those bags look terrible! Your hair is messier than ever!"
"Thanks..." I muttered eyes narrowed and looking at the ground.
Willow clicked her tongue and stopped her attempts at trying to get me to go home. I was glad for some silence finally, sadly that dissipated as soon as we got to the bus stop. The yelling and laughs made my head hurt, Willow only gave me a pitied look.
Getting my things from my locker was absolutely horrible, June and Julian seemed to have noticed my bad mood and didn't come near me. Even though it was weird of them to stay clear of me I appreciated it nevertheless.
"You look awful."
There is always one person though.
I looked at him with annoyance and silently sent signals for him to go away. Brandon was oblivious and kept chatting with me.
"You stayed up doing something, I wonder what." Brandon's eyes sparkled with mischief. I pursed my lips in frustration, he knew I wasn't in the mood.
"Brandon, I'm tired, so you can go whatever you want- as long as it's not by me." I brushed past him and sighed, trailing behind other kids from my class.
A hand gripped my shoulder so tightly it actually hurt and forced me to spin around. The person was being more then obvious as to what they were feeling. Anger.
