*Mettaton voice* JUST LOOK AT THESE RATINGS!

3rd person POV

Mettaton and Papyrus entered the crowded restaurant, taking their place at the end of a very long line to get a seat.

"I'm sorry, Mettaton...I didn't think it'd be this crowded." Papyrus looked anxious.

"Oh it's quite alright, dear~! We can always jus-"

"Papyrus!" He was cut off by the shrill exclamations of none other than...

Undyne emerged from the crowd, pushing aside people, and following her strides was her short wife, Alphys.

She embraced Papyrus tightly, lifting him off the floor a little. "Paps! I haven't seen you in forever, what are you during here, I thought you were working tonight!"

Papyrus laughed. "Hello Undyne! No, no I'm here on a date tonight!"

Undyne set him down and finally looked over at Mettaton, who was slightly blushing at the remark of this being a date. "Do I know you from somewhere..?"

It was Alphys' turn to rejoice. "Mettaton!" Although she was tiny, she hugged him tightly. "It's been too long!"

He patted her head. "Hello Alphys, darling. We came to eat, but the line-"

"Oh that's no problem!" Undyne grabbed Papyrus's arm and pulled him through the crowd, much to chagrin of everyone else waiting in line. Papyrus held onto Mettaton as he was dragged away, and Alphys was still hanging onto Mettaton.

They pushed through the dense environment, until Undyne deposited them at a table. "I'll be back with drinks in a moment!"

Papyrus waved as she went, and even held out the chair for Mettaton to sit in.

When they were seated, Mettaton raised an eyebrow at him. "So. How do you know Undyne?"

Papyrus fiddled with his silverware for a moment. "Old childhood friend. She used to train me in being a police officer, Nyeh hehe, our shared dream, until..." He got quiet all of a sudden.

Mettaton slid his hand across the table and took Papyrus's, a wordless way of comforting him.

"Until my dad and her dad died on the job, and as she says, we 'took the wimp way out' and quit training."

It was Mettaton's turn to go quiet briefly. "You would have been a great police officer, I'm sorry about your loss."

Papyrus shrugged, smiling despite the gloomy things he'd said.

"It doesn't matter anymore! I work at the coffee shop now and I'm quite happy..."

They didn't say much until Undyne returned with a wine menu. Mettaton ordered an exotic french wine, and Papyrus got a sprite. As they drank, they made small talk.

"So is," Mettaton hesitated. "Sans your only living family member?"

"I probably have a few cousins, but that I'm in contact with, yes."

"Awesome," Mettaton mumbled, disguising his words with another sip.

Dinner came, Papyrus ordered spaghetti, and Mettaton ordered spaghetti as well. He found himself pushing it aside after a few bites, he'd quite lost his appetite when he found his meatball still frozen.

"We go to a sushi resteraunt," Papyrus wiped his mouth off, "And neither of us get sushi!" He laughed.

"Very odd, isn't it? I've never been one for sushi, really." Mettaton replied.

"Well," Papyrus tucked aside the California Rolls that he had ordered on the side, "This place has good spaghetti, but not as good as mine! If you want real spaghetti, come over to my place and I shall cook for you!"

Mettaton smiled a little. "Is that an invite for another date I hear?"

Papyrus looked shocked for a second, then grinned. "It is! You can meet my family and enjoy my amazing cooking!"

"I'd love to, how about next Tuesday? I'm free almost the entire day."

"Sounds great!" Came his enthusiastic reply.

Later, A slightly tipsy on wine Mettaton walked home a slightly tipsy on sprite Papyrus, and very lightly pecked his cheek. "Night beautiful~,"

Unbeknownst to them, Toriel was right inside trying to pull 3 excited kids away from the window they were watching at excitedly.

It never occurred to them that they hadn't talked about business the entire night.
