"So when's the surgery?"

Papyrus, Mettaton and the family were all sitting in Sans hospital room, discussing their options. Sans looked awful, with bags under his eyes and his hair more messy than usual.

"Soon, of course. Paperwork to get sorted, and insurance all that stuff." The Doctor smiled. He was a handsome young man with his sleeves ripped off to reveal bulging muscles.

"Can't it go faster?" Toriel asked anxiously.

"Nope. I wish, but stuff goes slowly in the medical business." He replied.

Sans rubbed his bleary eyes, squinting at Toriel. "Really?"

"Sorry dude." The Doctor patted him on the back and excused himself. When he was gone, Toriel raced to Sans to hug him. "Oh Sans-"

He squeezed her back. "Tori-"

It was too much for Papyrus; He grabbed Mettaton and walked out of the room with tears pricking the back of his eyes. "Papy are you alright?"

"Yes, Mettaton. I just- Have you made the decision about the money?"

Mettaton bit his lip, staring at Papyrus's clear green eyes. "No, No I haven't. But I promise, I'll come to a decision by the end of this week!"

Papyrus's face broke into a toothy grin. He kissed him. "That's great, Metta."

He smiled in response, but it was uneasy. A few minutes later Toriel exited the hospital room, the kids in tow.

"Hey," She said, though her voice was strained. "Why don't we go out for dinner?"

"What about dad? Is he coming?" Asriel asked.

Toriel patted his head. "He has some things to work out with Doctor Aaron, dear."

"Sounds good," Mettaton said. "How about Hotland café?"

"Too hot. Do the people who run it even know what air conditioning is?" Papyrus piped up.

"What about Grillbys?" Chara said, looking at Toriel.
She wrinkled her nose. "Too greasy. But okay, I guess."

The family all set off for Grillby's, chatting despite the melancholic atmosphere. Chara proudly showed them all her crayon drawing of her and Undyne beating up people. (Not bad guys, just people.)

"Nice..." Toriel smiled, though her eyes didn't show it.

When they got there (they were walking) they all took a seat at window booth. Grillby himself shuffled over to take their order. "How's Sans?" He asked, handing them menus.

Toriel just shook her head. "Bad. The doctor says he's been blacking out and forgetting things."

Grillby sighed and handed Chara a kids menu. He tried to give Asriel one, but the small boy was already sinking under the weight of an adult menu. "I'm good!" He squeaked. Toriel took one for him anyway.

Mettaton unfolded his menu and began to read. Meanwhile, behind them an obnoxious couple was snorting away, loudly.

"Will they shut up?" Mettaton gritted his teeth. Papyrus gently put a hand on his leg to calm him down. "They'll be gone soon, Metta."

But they didn't go. By the time dinner had arrived, they'd only gotten louder. Mettaton leapt out of his seat, finally, turned around and shouted at them. "WOULD YOU BE QUIET-" He stopped short when he saw the persons wide eyes.

"Wha-?!"

"You-!"

"Mad?"
