The next morning, over leftover spaghetti, Mettaton tentatively brought up the subject. Papyrus was so distracting, it was hard to start the conversation, he was all mussed up curly hair and glinting eyes and light freckles.

"Papyrus?" He set down his fork and looked at him. "Dearest, there's something I need to talk to you about."

"Yes?" His eyes were still glinting with happiness. It made his heart skip a beat.

"So about the chemotherapy thing-"

Papyrus raised an eyebrow. "Yes?"

From the living room, the doorbell rang. Once, then twice. Then three and four and five.

"Uh, coming!" He stood up and wiped his mouth. "We'll finish this in a minute."

By the time he got to the door, the bell had been rung 4 more times; whoever ringing was really impatient. Mettaton paused in the kitchen doorway to see who it was.

"Alright, alright I'm coming-!" He swung it open and was met with quite a strange sight. A young-ish girl was standing in the landing, with curly blonde hair, big blue glasses and more than her fair share of freckles. Her face was contorted into a wide grin, making her eyes all crinkly and her forehead seem even larger. "Paa-aa-peeee!" She gasped.

She leaped into the apartment, wrapping Papyrus in a painful looking hug and twirling him around with surprising strength. "I haven't seen you in fooooreeevver!" She laughed.

'So this is her..?' He wondered.

"It has been forever, hasn't it?" Papyrus was facing Mettaton now, he could see the awkard, uncomfortable expression on his face. He mouthed 'help'.

Mettaton coughed, from where he was leaning. "So, who's this then?"

Papyrus peeled himself off her. "This is Helena." He said.

"It means shining light!" She announced proudly. "Russy and I have a past, thought I'd come to see him!"

Mettatons eyesbrows raised. 'Russy?' He thought. 'That has got to be the worst nickname ever! It's worse than boo-bear!'

"I see then...well nice to meet you...Helena."

She was still hanging onto Papyrus's arm, and he was growing more anxious looking by the minute. "Helena, me and Mettaton were just having an important discussion, maybe you should come back later."

She let go of him, finally, and bounced over to the counter to sit. "Whatcha guys talking about? I'm curious now!"

Mettaton had never seen Papyrus look so annoyed, it was unsettling. "Private stuff." Mettaton crossed his arms.

Helena shot him a nasty look. "Fine. I'll come back later."

Papyrus breathed a sigh of relief and began herding her out. "Oh and Russy?" She asked. "Friday night. Me, you, Grillby's at 7! Bye!" And rushed out before he could answer.

When she was gone, Papyrus sighed loudly. "God I forgot about her."

"Old girlfriend?" Mettaton chuckled darkly.

"Yes...she's the reason I'm gay."

"Don't worry I've had my fair share of them."
