Laura's POV

I was so determined for him not to find me. We, surprisngly enough, didn't have any classes together, yet we had a lot of the same teachers.

Everytime I saw his perfectly-gelled, golden hair across the hall, I ran into a swarm of people and made myself look like I fit in; I wore dull colors, nothing bright or neon that attracted the eye. I went through so much hassle to irritate a person in whom I barely knew. But it was so fun.

Eventually, one day, I knew we would have to hang out, or even just talk. But for now, it was better just to leave it as if he didn't know me still.

I walked the halls now, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw Ross with his arm around the shoulders of a very pretty girl. The girl wasn't American, it didn't seem like, but it made her somehow more stunning.

For some reason, as I looked at them, I felt something drop in the pit of my stomach. I didn't know why, but anger started bubbling up in my gut, but I tried my best to push it back down. I knew right away that this girl was obviously his girlfriend, but for some reason I still found myself standing there dumbfounded.

"Hey! Laura!"

I realized I had been staring that whole time as I saw Ross walking towards me. I sighed, knowing that I couldn't run away now. He smiled down at me as I looked up at him, my eyes probably going wild. I looked beside him, noticing that he had left his girlfriend with her apparent group of friends.

"So, uh, who's the girl?" I asked with a wink, as if I didn't already know.

I saw something flash across his eyes before he responded. "M-My girlfriend. Courtney Eaton." he stammered a bit, which made me a little suspicious of his behaviours. I ignored it, playing a smirk across my face.

"Oooh. OTP much?" I laughed half-heartedly, lightly punching his shoulder as if we were best buds. He frowned a bit, before he switched it into a smile.

"Meet me at the park tonight. 6 pm on the dot." he whispered down at me, his eyes narrowed into small slits as he looked at his surroundings thoughfully. I hesitantly nodded, knowing that I couldn't turn him down.

"Are you asking me on a date?" I smirked, rubbing my chin.

"Let's just call it a friendly encounter."
