Mackenzie's POV
DANG IT! I cried. I hit the pole on Flappy Bird! I restarted the level on my iPad determined to beat it this time.
"MACKENZIE ZIEGLER GET DOWN HERE RIGHT THIS INSTANT!" I hear. Of course I hit the pole again! I throw my and Maddie's iPad on the bed as I get up and scamper down the stairs. My mom stands by the screen door, a look of fury and rage contorting her face.
"Yeah mommy?" I ask nervously yet sweetly."Come with me." She glared, taking a tight hold on my arm as she pulls me out the door.
"Care to explain what that is in the pool?" She interrogates in the midst of the chilly night air.
"Uh, water?" I say, squinting. I'm hoping the darkness will act as an excuse for my pretty inferior answer.
"This is not the time for a smart aleck additude with me young lady! WHY IS YOUR CELL PHONE IN THE SWIMMING POOL! I never thought I would have to ask that question in my life!" Mom screams. I decided to take my chance and tell the truth.
"Ok. Mom, mom, you might not believe me, but Maddie got upset with me and threw it in there." I bravely replied.
Silence. Utter silence is all I can hear. In the dark, I can't even see how angry my mother is getting, I can only imagine.
"Mom?" I timidly speak.
Then I felt a sharp stinging sensation across my left cheek. My mom had done something she's never, ever done before.
