Maddie's POV

YAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH I yawned. I stretched my muscular dancer's legs and got out of bed. Wow, that's unusual...I thought. I had actually woken up before my alarm. Why is it that it feels like I've stepped into the freezer after I get out of bed in the fall? My t-shirt is pretty thin, so I tug on my favorite blue Aeropostale sweatshirt.

I tiptoe to the kitchen so I don't wake up Mom or Mackenzie

I tiptoe to the kitchen so I don't wake up Mom or Mackenzie. Hmm, hm, hm, hmmm, hmm, la, la, laaa! I hum the music to my trio with Kalani and Chloe softly. What to eat? I think. Cocoa Pebbles, Fruit Loops, a Pop Tart, or just a good old banana? I choose a fudge Pop Tart. I microwave it for 10 seconds instead of 3 because I'm such a rebel! No, but the real reason I do that is so a little chocolate bubble forms on top of the frosting and bursts open. It's my favorite part! It's Mackenzie's favorite part too, only she likes the smores kind. Then I remember. It's Mackenzie's 13th birthday! But then I remember another thing, that I'm not supposed to care about Mackenzie.

Maddie's Flashback

"Mackenzie is such a brat! The whole world doesn't revolve around her!" Brooke's voice jeers.

"I know right? And lately all she cares about is what time class is over!" Nia joins.

"I just want to stay at home and eat chips!" Brooke mimics Kenzie's season 1 quote in a high whiny voice.

"Hey guys knock it off." I tell Brooke and Nia.

"Why? She's just a lazy little girl who slows down the whole team!"  Nia retorts.

"Just stop, okay? She never did anything to you!" I replied. That's when the camera people started to fill in around us, trying to record some unscripted drama for Dance Moms.

"No! Mackenzie's pathetic!" Brooke screeches. Then she storms off into studio A, leaving the camera men alone with us to pick up the pieces. One lady scrawls something on a whiteboard and holds it above her head. The writing says, "Maddie, turn to the camera and say, I hate Brooke!"

"No." I reply with a glare.

I also walk off into studio A, the camera workers following. The lady who tried to get me to say I hate Brooke approached Kendall.  I think the lady's name is Samantha or Sam, something like that. I watch as she whispers to Kendall in a hushed voice.

"NO! I'M NOT DOING THAT!" Kendall shouts, shaking her head. Everyone who is in the studio waiting for Abby to get back from Burger King is watching. Sam chuckles innocently.

"It's nothing, girls!"  She says with fake sweetness in her voice. At this point, Jill (Kendall's mom) comes inside the studio to see what's going on. She walks in on her daughter yelling at Sam.

"I won't do that! She's my friend!" Kendall screams.

"Honey, honey, calm down!" Jill yells, only adding to the commotion.

Boy, this is the producers' lucky day. I think. They don't have to create any fake drama, it's just happening on it's own.

I casually walk over to the barre, pretending to practice my technique, but really just trying to get closer to a whispering Sam, Jill, and Kendall. I need to know what Sam wants Kendall to do!

"Look, I'll give you an extra money bonus if  Kendall says this and a number of other things!" Sam bribes.

"Kendall, now you WILL say it! It's worth it for the money!" Jill scolds. I can't help but letting out a little giggle. Jill LOVES money. All 3 of them look over and I attempt to cover up my giggle with a cough. I end up sounding like a walrus with strep throat!

"'NO MOM!" Kendall argues.

"YES." Jill harshly whispers.

"Okay, do you remember what to say, Kendall?" Sam asks. She nods her head.

"Well then come out to the lobby and say your line, with lots of anger. Oh, you'll need someone to say it to. But who?"  Jojo, Paige, whatever your name is, get over here! "It's Chloe." Chloe angrily rolls her eyes.

"Right, Chilly! Of course." Sam exclaims.

"No, Chloe, not... Chilly." Chlo coldly retorts.

"Sorry, yes, Coffee, not Chilly. Can we get coffee's mother down here please?" Sam shouts.

"Maggy, sweetie, could you please go practice in the dancers dome?" Sam tells me.

"Uh, it's Maddie, and I think you mean the dancer's den."

"Right, Martha. Go in the dancing deck honey." Sam said. I rolled my eyes, and just stepped around the corner, since Sam isn't very bright. Can't she get anything right?

"Alright, say it Kendall Q!"  Sam claps.

"It's Kendall K." Kendall almost shouts.

"Just say the line." Sam grits her teeth.

"Fine!" Kendall rolls her eyes.

"Action." Sam whispers to the camera and cues Kendall.

Kendall turns to Jojo as scripted. "Jojo, isn't Mackenzie so slow? She can't keep up with the music.!"

Jojo uncomfortably replies, "Yeah, and she's dumb."

Paige says her line next which I can't hear.

Then Sam waves me in. I walk in slowly, not trusting this.

"Say yeah." Sam tells me.

"Why?" I question.

"You're defending Mackenzie. Sit down next to Paige and say, yeah, I agree!"  I do as told, and think nothing of Sam's sly smile.
