James's POV

I walked into dance, thinking about tomorrow's competition when I saw Mackenzie!

"Mackenzie!" I called, grinning, but she turned away and walked rapidly into Studio A.

"Hey, wait up!" I yelled, but she continued to ignore me. I caught her arm and lightly spun her towards me, impressed by how she went up on her toe to turn, instinctively.

"What do you want." Mackenzie growled. It wasn't even a question, she was just mad at me for some reason.

"What's wrong?" I asked, tilting my head and staring into her chocolate eyes.

"You know." She said, a hardness forming in her eyes, like the chocolate was solidifying.

"Huh?" I questioned, now fully confused.

"You just lead me on like that, talking to me at dance for several weeks, and then just say it's over the same day it started? For no reason?"

"Oh! That, well I can explain!" I said rubbing my forehead with my hands.

"Go on," She harshly spoke.

"Well, it's just that-" My voice dropped to a whisper, "I didn't want Maddie to know we're dating." Much to my relief, her expression softened.

"But, why not?" Kenzie asked.

"Because, because I know she'd try to sabotage things, and if she thought our relationship was over before it really even started, she'd leave us, more importantly you, alone."  I said, staring at her soft pink lips.

"Do you, do you forgive me?" I asked timidly

"Do you, do you forgive me?" I asked timidly. I don't know why I've been stumbling over words around her. This girl has got my life flipped upside down! I glanced up at the girl who is responsible for my worry, my anxiety, but most importantly responsible for my passion for dance and my happiness.

"Of course I forgive you!" She cried, her emotions completely transformed. Then I did what my heart told me to. I had liked this girl since she was in 3rd grade, I in 4th! Then she skipped a grade, giving me all the more reason to fall in love with her. She was smart, and in my classes! So, that's why I did this.

I stared at her, mostly nervous. My heart was thumping in my chest and I was sure my fear was obvious. I had to do it. I leaned in, and so did she. The moment our lips touched I felt a jolt of electricity shoot through my body, electrifying me. People say young love isn't possible, but they're wrong.
