Dinner wasn't bad, my parents hounded Bradley with questions about his future, and he had some solid answers. On more than one occasion Brad caught me ogling like an idiot at him, immediately after dinner I remembered the event.

"Brad, we have to go. We'll be late!" I jolted up from my resting position on my bed.

"Go where? My dad's event? Yeah, not going." He turned his attention back to the ebony magazine he found on my nightstand.

"Put that down and go get dressed." I knocked the magazine from his hands and tossed him his duffle bag. "You made me promise so we're going." I did my best to sound stern.

"Fine but don't expect me to be all smiles and shit."

"Language!" I warned.

"I mean..... stuff." I rolled my eyes as he headed for the bathroom across the hall. I grabbed my dress and headed into my bathroom. It's go time. I'm about to step up in that venue and turn heads. I can do this. I can do-

"Hey, you done yet?" Was he... rushing me?

"Bradley. I am black. My hair takes time." Why is that so hard to understand? I decided to straighten my hair tonight. I know I know, it's bad but I know I'll have the urge to flip my ethnic locks in some white bitches face tonight.

"I'll be in the car, the event starts in 30. I think my watch is in your bag, bring it down with you." I crossed my eyes and mocked him.

"I'm almost done. I'll be down in 10 minutes." I looked at myself in the mirror as I put on my earrings.

After about 15 minutes I was ready, "Cause I slay I slay." I sang as I applied my matte lip and flipped off my light. I most definitely do slay.

I said goodbye to my parents because we were driving straight back to campus in the morning, and headed outside. Hair blowing in the wind. Had a bitch feeling like Beyoncé.

"Well shit, I'm glad I'm the one who's arm you'll be on because holy fuck." I laughed.

"Oh shut up. We've got people to stunt on so let's go." I spoke before sliding into the passenger. Bradley slid in beside me and glared in my direction.

"You know, I was going to open your door for you. You could have at least let me do that." I stared at him blankly before rolling my eyes.

"No need to act all chivalrous, I can open my own door. My hand work just fine." I secured my seatbelt and sat back. Before I knew it, we were on our way. I can't wait to see the look on his father's face.

"Seriously J, you look good enough to eat. Curly or straight I'd tap that." That caught me off guard.

"Bradley!" I slapped his arm.

"I'm being so serious right now. You look amazing." He kept his eyes on the road the entire time he spoke, " I don't know how you did it but you've got me wrapped around your finger, and I'm ok with that."

"You're only saying that because I'm all dressed up." I busted out laughing but stopped when he pulled over and looked me dead in my face.
