"This place can be slightly intimidating, but trust me, you'll get used to it" Britney says, leading me to the employee room "So, how about we meet everyone?" She smiles warmly, opening the door for me "That's Dan, Max, Will, Kyle, Margaret, Lillian and Brianna" She points to everyone around the room "Guys this is Lennon. She's the new one"
"Nice to meet you" I make out from their jumbled replies.
"Come on, there's more people by the pool" She leads me back outside to the massive pool "So, that's Tyler, Danielle and Ella" She points to the people in the lifeguard posts, however she left someone out.
"Who's that?" I point to the other boy. He's chews on his lip ring absentmindedly tracing his tattoos, while watching the pool.
"I wouldn't worry about him. He doesn't say much" She shrugs "This is my fourth year here, and he's talked to me once"
"What'd he say?"
"Get out of my way" She says, deepening her voice to sound manly.
"Oh" I nod.
"Yeah, so the best thing I can say is. Don't worry too much about getting to know him. He's not the nicest person out there" She says "Now, let's go get you a uniform" She taps my arm before turning around. I give one last glance to the boy at the farthest post, my stomach bubbling when I catch him staring at me. His right eye drops into a wink, and my eyes widen causing a smirk to stretch out along his lips. I turn back around, and chase after Britney, slipping into the door before it closes.
"Alright, your tops, your bottoms" She piles three uniforms on my outstretched hands "A one piece" She lays across the top "And, a whistle" She places it over my neck, smiling brightly.
"Welcome to the club" She smiles.
