"What do you think?" I ask Austin once my hair is finished. He taps his chin, looking as if he's in though before he grins.

"You look so pretty" He compliments and I giggle, kissing his cheek.

"Thank you"

We pay and leave, Kylie texting me an address and telling me to meet her so we can 'hang out' when in reality I know she's about to surprise me for my birthday party. I drive us to the place, Austin sitting quietly in the passenger seat.

"What's up?" I ask, wondering why he's being so quiet.

"Nothing" He shakes his head, leaning over the center console to kiss my cheek. I pout, coming to a stop at red light "What do you want now?" He asks, and I look at him, batting my eyelashes "You're so needy" He rolls his eyes playfully, leaning back over and kissing my lips softly.

"I'm not needy" I frown, continuing to drive.

"Oh, sure" He nods sarcastically. I pull up to where Kylie told me, seeing it looks like some kind of warehouse and I know for a fact that this is for my surprise party. I park and get out of my car, Austin grabbing me by my waist and pulling me into his chest.

"What are you doing?"

"I want to kiss you" He mumbles.

"And I'm the needy one" I laugh "We need to get inside" I push at his chest but he stays in place.

"Baby" He whines, burying his face into my neck.

"Austin, we're in the middle of a parking lot" I mumble.

"So?" He shrugs.

"Let's get inside" I tell him, and he sighs "Don't be crabby" I giggle, taking his hand and pulling him inside the large building.

"Where do you think sh-"

"Surprise!" All my friends yell, cutting off Austin. I laugh loudly when he jumps, my body hunching over.

"Why don't you look surprised?" Kylie asks.

"Because I knew this was going to happen" I giggle "Check who's in the group chat" I wink and she frowns, slapping a hand against her forehead.

"Shit"

"Firefly" I hear my dad call, and in a panic I push Austin away from me and look at my dad.

"Dad, hi" I mumble, and he wraps his arms around me in a hug, kissing my forehead. I sigh at his sunglasses, making him look like an Osborne "Where's Mom?" I ask, and he points to her. I sigh in embarrassment when I see her at the drink table, a hippie headband on her head and a floral dress that looks like something from the 70's.

"Let's go see her" He wraps an arm around my shoulder and practically shoves me towards my mom, against my will.

"Lennon!" She grins, hugging me.

"Mom" I mumble, and she pats my head.

"This party is nice" She compliments.

"It was all Kylie" I cross my arms over my chest.

"Did you dye your hair?" She asks, grabbing a few strands "Oh, it was so pretty natural"

"It's not that much different"

"I know, but still"

"Okay" I nod "I'm going to go say hi to other people" I say, trying to get away from the two of them. I walk towards Shane and hug him "My parents are losers" I sigh.

"Oh stop" He chuckles.

"God, Austin probably hates me" I groan.

"Why?" He asks.

"Because I pushed him away when my dad called for me, I don't want them to meet him" I shrug.

"Well, go talk to him" He pushes me away from him.

"Shane, I can't" I frown "Girl, go or I'm going to beat the shit out of you"

"Fine" I huff, walking around to find Austin. I huff when I can't find him until I decide to look for him outside.

"You take everything from me!" I hear someone scream, someone who sounds like Dan.

"I do not. I told her she should give you a chance. It's not my fault she didn't" Another person says, and I know that's Austin. I walk closer, not caring to interrupt their conversation, until Austin speaks up again "If you want her, I'll back off. I'm not going to fight with you over a girl" He says and I frown.

"Really?" Dan asks in surprise.

"Nah, I'm just fucking with you" Austin laughs and I breathe out in relief "I want her, and she wants me back so I don't know what to tell you"

"You're supposed to be my friend"

I walk over to them before Austin can respond and they both look at me in confusion "Hey, can I talk to you?" I ask Austin quietly, and he looks at Dan before me.

"I'll come back in a minute" He says, and I nod.

"Okay" I walk away again.

"Go talk to her, I'm going to leave" Dan sighs and walks away. Austin walks up behind me and wraps an arm around my waist.

"Hmm, so did you find it funny when I told Dan he could have you?" He asks, kissing me cheek.

"It wasn't funny"

"Next time don't eavesdrop" He chuckles.

"I can't believe you'd say that"

"I just wanted to piss you off. I feel like it was only fair" He shrugs and I turn around.

"You were pissed off?"

"Well, duh" He rolls his eyes "How would you feel if I pushed you away just because my mom was coming?" He asks.

"I'm sorry" I sigh, leaning my head against his chest "My parents are just so weird. I just don't want you to meet them yet"

"I know"

"I'll let you soon, just not right now" I kiss his jaw "Promise"
