After I finally get the last customer with a snowball I lean against the counter, sighing heavily. I don't think I've ever been more regretful than I am now. The door to the stand opens and I look over to it, Dan walking in with a smile on his face.
"Coming to switch places?" I ask.
"Uh well-"
"Cool thanks, talk to you later" I cut him off, wanting to get out of here. I walk out slamming the door behind me. I walk off to the pool and into the pool building. Austin is standing at the counter, a smirk on his face when he sees me.
"Done already?"
"Fuck you" I grit "You're a fucking asshole" I shove at his chest but he doesn't budge.
"Stop Lennon" He grabs my wrists "You need to calm down"
"No, fuck you! You're such a piece of shit! I fucking hate you" I yell.
"Lennon, stop yelling at me" He says calmly,
"No! Why would you do that?"
"Because I wanted to" He shrugs and my jaw clenches.
"Let me go" I try to pull my wrists out of his grip. He lets go and I pull the towards my chest "Leave me alone. I mean it, I don't want anything to do with you"
"Alright" He raises his hands in defense "Too bad we still work together"
"Not for long" I mumble to myself, turning on my heels and walking away.
"Hey Lennon" Brit smiles "I need to talk to you"
"What about?"
"Well, there was a complaint from someone at this pool, it was an anonymous complaint so I don't know who it was, but they said they were treated poorly by you at the pool, then again at the snowball stand" She sighs "I can't have the behavior"
"I apologize" I frown, knowing exactly who complained about me "But honestly, I'm putting my two weeks in anyways, I have to get ready to go back to college soon"
"Oh? I'm sorry to hear that" She frowns "We'll miss you around here, when you're gone of course"
"I'll miss you all too, it was great getting to know you all" I smile.
"Where do you go to college?"
"UCLA actually, I just come home for the summers"
"Well, you can still have your job and I'll give you these last few weeks of summer off, that way you can prepare. Like a paid vacation?" She offers.
"Really? You'd do that?"
"Yes, it's nice having you here, don't want a good person to go to waste"
"Well, that's great. Thank you" I hug her tightly.
"It's not a problem really, today can be your last day. Feel free to visit before you leave though"
"I most definitely will"
"Wanna work the check-in before the day is over?" She asks, and I nod.
"Sure" I nod, walking towards the booth. I step inside and sit at the chair in front of the window.
"Are you really going to quit?" Austin steps into the booth.
"I didn't quit" I shrug, smiling at the family that game in. They show me their pool card and I stamp their hands, telling them to have fun as they walk away.
"Then what did you mean by 'not for long'?" He asks.
"I'm going back to California in three weeks, and in order to do that I have to pack up my house, get things down there and then settle everything with my college and then move back"
"You live in California?"
"I was raised here, I go to college there" I greet more families with a small smile, stamping their hands.
"Then why do you come back here?"
"Because I'm home here" I turn around to face him "Kylie and Shane live out here, while I stay in California then I come home to see them. Is that a problem?"
"No"
"Good" I nod, turning around.
"I'll miss you, you know?"
"Wish I could say the same" I mumble.
"I'm sorry. I'm a fuck up, and an asshole and I get that. I never meant to hurt you in any situation. But I don't want you to go back to California hating me. I like you, a lot and I don't want you to regret me. I'm so sorry" He sighs, placing his hands on my thighs "Forgive me? Please?" He nudges his nose along mine.
"I don't forgive you" I shake my head "But I won't be as shitty towards you"
"That's all I ask" He chuckles, sitting on the counter in front of me, his body taking up half of the window "Have you talked to Dan?"
"Yes" I nod "I did this morning, he asked me on a date and I agreed"
"Oh, is that what I walked in on?"
"Yeah, I told him good luck in planning it because I'm so hard to please" I chuckle.
"I don't doubt it for a second"
"Really?" I ask with raised eyebrows and he nods.
"Yeah, you like everything done a certain way, I can tell" He smirks and I roll my eyes.
"Go away, I have work to do"
"I'll see you later" He kisses my cheek, walking out of the booth. The lady waiting at the window giving me an odd look.
"Have fun" I stamp her hand after checking her card and she walks off, a sigh leaving my mouth.
