I look down my small checklist of everything I needed to take and smile when I realise I'm finally ready. I throw my duffle bag over my shoulder and grab my baby blue suitcase. After hauling it down the stairs, I stop and take a deep breath when I finally reach the bottom of my step-dads overly large stair case, god I need to get fit.
"Mum, Mark! I'm going now!" I yell into the huge mansion I am told to call home. My yell echo's through the room yet there is still no reply. I throw my bags down onto the floor in anger and stomp into the living room. There I see my Mum and Step-Dad lying there, passed out from the drink again. I groan in hatred to the two drunk's lying here that I have to call parents and stomp back out of the room. I carry my bags out of the door and practically run to my best friend's house while trying to hold back the tears.
I knock on the door loudly and I hear a squeal of excitement from inside. The door flings open revealing an extremely bubbly brunette who I call my best friend. She tackles me into a hug and I return it just as forcefully. From behind I spot her Mum, Dad and two younger siblings who all wave at me like the nice people they are. Gemma's family have always been a lot nicer to me than my own family and I couldn't be more thankful to them. After my Dad left with my younger sister and older brother 2 years ago they were always there to give me support and help me even though I wasn't their responsibility.
"Okay you girls make sure you behave!" Gemma's Dad, George, tells us while sticking his finger out at us jokingly.
"But Gem and I always behave!" I joke back and he takes a deep breath while the rest of the family laugh.
"Maybe you two living together isn't the best idea," He threatens which makes me and Gemma gasp.
"Shut up George," Julie, Gemma's mum, tells him which makes us laugh. "Bella, Gemma have a good time!"
She pulls me into one of her big 'Mamma Bear' hugs which everyone loves so much. "Thanks Jules!" I say while imitating a three year old, she looks at me weirdly and then hits the back of my head jokingly, shooing us away.
"Get going, you hyperactive little weirdo's," I watch as Gem hugs her parents goodbye and then I grab her hand and run towards her gorgeous mint green convertible. I jump into the passenger seat while Gem climbs into her driver's seat. Immediately the music comes blaring on from the last time we rode it and we both begin to get really excited.
"You ready for this?" She asks while looking me dead in the eye.
"I couldn't be more ready!" I reply and with that she speeds off down the road.
I moan once again as I tug at my stupid broken suitcase which now only has one wheel. Apparently we went one floor to high in our apartment building so Gemma thought it would be easier if we just pushed our suitcases down the stairs instead of pulling them all the way down.
Typically, my suitcase flew open and a wheel fell off while Gemma's landed perfectly on top of it. She cheered as I moaned but she wasn't so happy when I forced her to help me tidy it up, in your face Gemma!
"Gemma how much longer?" I grumble and she laughs as she looks back at me with her perfect suitcase. Okay Bella you need to get over the freaking suitcase incident!
"I think it's this one!" She stops in front of a wooden door with a silver number 17 screwed onto it. I finally catch up but I was still breathing abnormally heavily.
"Bella, you seriously need to work out." She tells me while laughing and I just roll my eyes, yes I know ... I tell myself every day.
I wipe the sweat off my forehead and pull the key out of my pocket. I look at Gemma seriously, she nods her head to I shove the key into the lock and we fling the door open. We both burst inside, desperate to look around but I trip over Gemma's duffel bag which she purposely put there to trip me up and I go face planting into the shiny wooden flooring.
