Chapter 8

Clary's POV

I woke up in my bed. I had a purple bedspread, and white sheets. It was the perfect blend of girly, yet fierce. I looked at the clock on my nightstand. It read 5:43 am. Ughhh why is it so early. Might as well get some training in.

I quickly got dressed in a simple black sports bra and black yoga pants. I grabbed my workout bag and went out the door. When I got to the training room of the institute I saw something new.

I went over to check it out. It seemed to be like a simulator type machine. There was a card taped to the side of it addressed to the institute:

Dear Whomever it may concern,

As a thank you of coming to assist us in Idris, we would like to present to you the newest discovery in training our Shadowhunters.

This is the new Shadow Training Simulator (A/N I know lame name lol. If you have any Ideas let me know😂). What it does is create an artificial scenario in which you battle demons.

Each demon that you kill gives you a certain amount of points. When you reach a certain amount of points you exceed to the next level.

I stepped inside a pressed the start button. A voiced sounded saying that the simulation was about to start. I picked up the special seraph blade for the simulator.

Then I began.

About an hour later, I was in the middle of level 25, I heard the door to the training room open. I looked over as Hunter entered the room. He was wearing a work out T-shirt and basketball shorts.

I stopped the simulation and came out of the machine. His back was turned.

Quickly drawing a soundless rune on my arm, I snuck up behind him.

"AGHHHHH!" Hunter turned around, scaring the living daylights out of me! I said as much.

"Geez, how did you even know I was there??" I yelled.

"I just happen to have the talent of sensing when beautiful things are in the room." He said smiling.

"Dork."

"Maybe. But I'm your dork."

"You got that right." I smiled and pecked his cheek. "Do you wanna spar?"

"Sure. But only if you go easy on me, oh greatest female shadowhunter." He teased.

"No promises."

We got into positions.

"Ready?" I asked.

"You know it." He smirked.

"Okay. Go!"

We circled each other for a few tense heartbeats. Then he rushed at me. For any normal shadowhunter, that may have worked.

Good thing I'm not a normal shadowhunter.

I side stepped and crouched, swiping out my right leg. Hunter tripped but easily rolled and got right back up on his feet. He made a punch at my face but I ducked and tackled him to the soft mat. I sat on his hips and pinned his arms to the floor.

"Give up?" I said, breathing heavy, and it wasn't because of the sparring.

"On you?" He said smiling. "Never."

I kissed him on the lips and pulled him up.

"We should probably get ready for Idris."

"Yeah."

"But you need to take a shower before, cause you stink!" I laughed.

He gasped and faked hurt.

"Come on you prima Donna." I chuckled. Snaking my arm around his waist, we walked out of the training room.

**TIME SKIP**

Hunter's POV (OMG IKR)

I went to my bedroom to get my things and thought about Clary. She's so beautiful. I got so lucky. I hope that Jace Herondale guy knows what he's missing out on.

After getting my stuff, I went to the library to wait for Clary. On the way there I saw my sister Annie sitting against wall crying. I crouched down beside her and pulled her into my embrace.

"Annie, what's wrong?" I asked

"Y-you and C-clary are l-l-leaving!" She burst into sobs. I hugged her against my chest.

"Aww kid, we'll be back. Nothing's gonna happen to us."

"You promise?" She asked.

"I promise."

"Okay." She she sniffling.

I pulled her and we went to the library. After getting there I saw that Clary was already there. Annie ran to give her and hug and nearly knocked her over.

"Hey there squirt." Clary said.

"Clare-bear! Big brother said that he promises you'll come back! Do you promise?"

"I promise." Clary said smiling. "Besides I'm the best female shadowhunter right? I'll protect Hunter for you."

"Oh no." I said. "You are the damsel in distress! I cannot let my princess save herself! "

"I'm no damsel in distress, my good sir! Just a hero in a pretty pair of heels." Clary replied laughing.

I kissed Annie on the forehead and pecked Clary's lips. "Okay Ann, we gotta get going! Clary if you'll do the honors?" Everyone shuffled in as clary began to draw the portal rune on the blank wall.

I set Annie down and grabbed my love's hand.

"You ready?" I asked.

"As ready as I'll ever be." She replied.

And with that we jumped into the portal.
