- SINDRI'S POV -

The pain had disappeared, but I was unable to move. I wasn't even sure I had retained consciousness. I could still hear everything, but my sight was dark and my mind was foggy. Completely unaware of my surroundings, I could only catch a few words. I heard 'dark magic' and 'won't make it'. Was I really dying? Was that what it felt like? I could feel the heavy sadness weighing down the room... wherever that was.

"Hold on, Sindri. Stay with us." Ryon's voice rang out clearly in my mind. Did I really hear that? Or was I already going mad? I felt something wet slide across my face. I realized that I was crying. Something wiped the tear away. I felt a squeeze on my hand.

"I don't know if you can hear me, but everyone is here. Tristan, our healer Tara, her brother Bryn. Even Dimitri and his wife, Grace. They all say they know you. They're here to say goodbye." Ryon said.

'I'm not going anywhere.' I thought. He gasped.

"Was that you? You can hear me?" he asked excitedly.

'Well duh. I might be almost dead, but I'm not deaf, nimrod.' I thought back. He laughed.

"What?" I asked.

"Even on your deathbed you don't hesitate to insult me." he said, chuckling.

'I'm not letting you off the hook just yet, Buddy.' I thought hoarsely. He sighed.

'What now?' I wondered.

"Your connection is so weak... It's making your condition worse. I have to stop."

'Don't. I like having someone to talk to.' There was an awkward period of silence as we both tried to think of something to say. 'Hey Ryon?'

"Yeah?"

'It's dark in here.' I stated. He laughed.

"I bet it is."

'Could you tell Tristan that when we were six, it wasn't his nanny that stole his cookies. It was me.'

"Sure Sindri. I will." I could feel his voice beginning to fade. The sensation of his hand in mine became only a memory. The world was falling away too fast. All that was left was a distant voice calling my name. No! I'm not going to die! Not yet! The pull below was too strong. I knew I couldn't stay any longer.

'Tell them all that I love them.' And with that I plunged into the darkness of the unknown.
