- SINDRI'S POV -
I felt something pulling me from my black nothingness. Though I was drawn to it, I wanted to just fade to the afterlife. That's what I was doing wasn't I? As I got closer to the surface of reality, I realized what it was that was bringing me up. The fiery, white-hot lightning, beautiful booming of thunder. I pressed my inner self upward, readily joining with my stolen power.
At first it hurt, but then I was lost deep within the feeling of it. Storm coursed through my veins, pumping life and energy throughout my body. My eyes shot open. Somewhere inside me I recognized Markus's face. He said something unintelligible, but I ignored it. I flexed my fingers, rejoicing in my ability to move.
"Oh, yeah." I groaned. I let my power escape from inside me, my thunder ringing loud and clear. Lightning sailed through the air slicing open the skies, letting rain loose. I laughed in wonderful celebration of my reunion with my inner storm. I sprang to my feet and bolted out the enterance flap, crashing into something on my way.
I stopped running and twirled around, hands reaching for the skies. Water ran down my face and mud snuck between my toes. I failed to make any sound save my excited laughter and rumbling thunder. I suddenly felt lightheaded. My legs fell from beneath me. Before I could hit the ground, strong arms wrapped around my waist. I looked up into Ryon's eyes giggling like a maniac.
Sometime during my sprint of excitement, my hair had fallen from its braid. The long curls hung to the ground. I had a single moment of clarity as Ryon brushed the wet hair out of my face. I realized how close he was to me. I rolled my eyes.
"Just kiss me already." And he did. When he pulled away I giggled again. He lifted me into his arms.
"Let's get you back inside, nutball." he suggested and began jogging back to the infirmary tent.
"Weeeeeee!" I cried. Ryon put me back on the bed I almost died in. I immediatley jumped back up. Markus watched as I ran in circles and Ryon attempted to catch me. As I passed him for about the twentieth time, exaustion began to cloud my mind. I yawned and sat down on the dirt floor.
"I'm tired." I said simply. Markus laughed.
"I bet you are. There's no way any living being can take in that much power without passing out." He helped me to my feet and into the wooden bed. He was watching me carefully.
"What?" I asked.
"I'll tell you when you wake up."
"How long until then?"
"About a week." he replied. Then I began fighting the darkness threatening to overcome me.
"I almost died! I don't want to do any more sleeping!" I cried. Ryon walked to the foot of the bed.
"You're going to have to. Your body needs to get used to your power again." he explained. I shook my head. I was determined to stay out of the dark. I wasn't going back there. It became harder to keep my eyes open. I was barely awake. "I'll be here waiting for you, okay?" I numbly and dropped into a deep, dreamless sleep.
