I sat down on the sofa and curled up to the cushions. I sighed and stuck the tv on, letting the usual drivel murder my brain cells as I open a beer.

"How you doing?" I looked up as Aaron sat down next to me. I shrugged my shoulders and took a sip of my beer. He put his arm around me and pulled me into him.
"I'm here for you."

"I know," I whispered. He smiled and kissed the side of my head. "I just... none of them spoke to me... The whole service and no one spoke to me..." He sighed sadly.

"They may have found it hard... you're really like him."

"I have no family to talk to anymore..."

"You have me." I smiled and kissed his cheek. "I know it's different, that I'm not that sort of family, but you're still family to me. I'll always be here for you, and if you want space-" I cut him off by kissing him gently but passionately.

"Thank you." I whispered. He smiled and kissed my head.

"Do you wanna do something to take your mind off it?" he asked.

"Like what?" I asked looking at him.

"I could whoop your ass at Black Ops? " He teased, I rolled my eyes and grabbed the controllers.

"Bring it on loser."  I said winking, loading up the game. He chuckled and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into his lap. I snuggled up to him and started a multiplayer game.

"We are playing split screen..."

"Don't be a Caleb." I said sticking my tongue out. He chuckled and kissed the side of my head. I giggled and shot him.

"OI!" I giggled and kissed his cheek.

"I thought you were gonna whoop my arse?" I teased as I shot him again.

"That's it." He put his controller down and grabbed my hips, tickling me.

"A-Aaron! P-please... okay you win!" I squealed trying to pry his hands off my waist. He laughed as we fell to the floor. He chuckled and he hovered above me.

"I win," he said winking. I rolled my eyes and kissed him softly.

"Only this once." He chuckled and laid down next to me. I snuggled up next to him as he put his arm around me. I looked at the ceiling and sighed.

"What's wrong?"

"The ceiling is so boring." I said feeling sad.

"What?"

"It's boring... plain... bare." My voice cracking. He sighed and kissed the side of my head. "I'm sorry," I whispered. "For what? For being upset? (Y/N) you lost your dad and you are struggling. You're gonna be sad, whether it's about the ceiling or the pasta pot in the cupboard cause it has a stain on it. Or because you are sad. It's gonna happen. I can't even think to imagine how sad you feel at the moment but I'm gonna help you through it. It will get easier. One step at a time." I hugged him tight as a few tears escaped my eyes. He held me tight until I fell asleep.

When I woke up it was pitch black except for a yellowy glow. I looked up at the ceiling to see glow in the dark paintings covering it. I smiled and sat up to see a glowing Aaron standing, grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

"It's not bare anymore, it springs to life, but it can only be seen in the dark, so when things seem really dark you know there's still a bit of light." I got up and hugged him tight.

"You're my light."

"You're so cheesy. But I'll always be your light."

(A/N hiya, sorry for this. I'm feeling really low atm and I'm trying to get it out of my system. The grieving process is hard for me to deal with. It's hard to stay stable right now and I'm hoping my writing will get me through it. Sorry that it is extremely shitty. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't read it.)
