Gavin and I had been friends since as long as I could remember. We met in reception and because instant friends. Our parents made sure we went to the same schools so that we wouldn't get split up. We would spend every day at each other's houses. When we were young we'd play in the garden until we got dragged back inside. When we got older it would be video games instead, mostly Halo. Gavin was obsessed with Halo more than any other game so I became obsessed.

We met Dan when Gavin started working at Waitrose. They came to pick me up from my shift at a local cafe and Gavin introduced us, creating the gaming trio.

When Gav and Dan decided to create The Slow Mo Guys they'd asked if I wanted to join them. I decided to just help out behind the scenes. I thought it odd to be a part of The Slow Mo Guys and not be a guy. Plus I never felt confident on camera.

Gavin leaving for America was hard. I had to watch the person I cared for most move to the other side of the world, starting a brand new life. We talked as much as we could but time zones and busy lives made it difficult.

Dan and I hung out all the time until he left for the army. Then I was all on my own.

I grabbed my phone off the counter as my text tone rang.

Dan: what you doing right now?

Me: nothing why?

The doorbell rang and I rolled my eyes smiling. I opened my front door to see Dan standing there with a suitcase and a shit eating grin.

"W-where you going?"

"Ahh ah, not where am I going. Where are we going." I furrowed my eyebrows. Dan walked into my house and straight into my bedroom. I followed him to see him raiding my draws, flinging clothes into a suitcase.

"Oh help yourself, I'm sure they'd suit you perfectly," I said rolling my eyes as Dan held one of my thongs.

"You're so funny," he replied just as sarcastically as me.

"Dan what are yo- we doing?" I asked.

"Going on an adventure." He smiles at me closing my suitcase. "Anything else you need?"

"Dan I have work I can't just..."

"I've sorted it. Is there anything else you're gonna need?" I sighed and grabbed my laptop and chargers, putting it in my handbag.

A honk came from outside making Dan whip his head towards my front door.

"Come on," he said grabbing my suitcase and went to leave my house. "Oh shit wait!" He ran back into my room before running back out. "Come on (Y/N)!"

We got in an Uber and began driving. I went to open my mouth when Dan passed me an envelope. I frowned and opened it. It was a birthday card.

"Dan it's not my birthday for another week?"

"Just open it will you?"

I opened the card and a ticket fell out.

I read the card

Happy early birthday you little weirdo!

"Dan are you fucking kidding me?" I looked at him smiling.

"I miss him as much as you do and I thought we could visit him for your birthday..."

I hugged him as tight as I could. This was the best birthday present I had ever received.
