Leighton's POV
Mom woke up an hour later after the whole waiting game began.
I have never been this excited about anything before, and it is exhilarating. I have so much adrenaline, I feel like I could run a marathon.
I rushed into my mom's room to help her get ready, and she gladly took up on that offer.
"What do you need packed first?" I said, too excited for my own good. "Honey, calm yourself! The faster we pack, the more time we have to wait." Mom scolds.
I understand her point so I inhale and exhale three times and calmed myself down a bit.
"I'm relaxed. Sorry, mom!" the words coming out as pants, still out of breath from my moment of elation.
After 30-45 minutes of sorting, packing, and cleaning, my mom is finally finished! I mean it's a miracle, right?
I left Mom's room and walked into mine, checking for anything missing. Also, doing a little bit of finishing touches with my bag sorting.
Before heading downstairs, I soon realize I was still in my pajamas. Rebuking myself, I changed into this stylish but weirdly comfortable outfit to get through the day.
After putting on comfortable clothes, I picked up my large suitcase, laptop bag, and carry on bag; which includes my iPad, electronic chargers, small pillow, head rest, and a blanket, and begin to take everything downstairs.
Once I sit my bags at the front door, I walk into the kitchen, only to see my mom making scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, and whole grain toast. Mmm. My favorite!
I jump onto the counter near the stove, watching my mom smile and cook breakfast.
"Thanks a million, Mom. I love you so much." I say, hopping down and crushing my mom in a bear hug.
"Anything for my baby. I love you too, Hun." Mom says mischievously, knowing I hate when she calls me baby.
Shortly after, she finishes the food and goes to the cabinets to get plates and glasses, then to the drawer to get silverware.
Once it's all plated, we sit and eat in silence, except for the occasional satisfactory "Mmm" from me, because my mom's food is the BOMB.
After finishing up the meal, I glance down at my watch. It reads 12:00 p.m. "Mama, it's 12. I think we need to wash dishes, then begin to put everything in the car.. which I am not looking forward to.
Mom playfully glances at me. "What are you trying to say? That I have too much packed?"
"No I'm not. I'm just saying, our trunk isn't the biggest thing in the world. Plus, it is probably already full without our luggage in it!"
After completing the dishes, I head upstairs to do yet another last minute check in my room, then head to my mom's room to get her things.
By the time all the toting, dragging, lifting, and stuffing was done, we had started loading up into the car. Then, I looked at the car clock.
It read 12:25 p.m. Oh my gosh!
"Come on, mom!! We are gonna miss our flight!" I snap, then realize how rude that actually sounded.
