Staying Strong (Sequel to The Two of Us)

Chapter 11

*Nate's Pov*

"Alright Y/N you're doing great you're almost there. 1...2...3...push!!" The doctor said encouraging Y/N.
"Aaaahh!" She screamed and tightened my hand to the point where there's no circulation. Y/N has been in labor for almost seven hours and i am not planning to leave her side.
"Y/N you can do this just breathe sweetheart." Nina said helping her guide her breathing.
I don't know what i would do if she wasn't here, i'd probably be more hysterical than i already am.
"Okay i see the head Y/N, you're almost there!" The doctor said. "Push!"

There was a second of silence and heavy breathing and suddenly i heard little faint cries. The world stopped for a second. That was my baby crying.
Y/N threw herself back on the hospital bed tired and drained. Y/N slowly let go of my hand i locked eyes with her for reassurance and slowly walked up to the nurse.
"Would you like to cut the umbilical chord?" The doctor asked me. I nodded i was too caught up in this moment for words to come out of my mouth.
The nurse handed me some scissors and i cut the chord separating Y/N and out baby.
"Congratulations on your baby boy." The doctor said  and slowly handed him to me.
"Hi baby....I'm your daddy." I softly cradled him in my arms and walked over to Y/N. "This is your mommy." I said.
"Nate it's our baby." Y/N said with tears coming down her face. "He's perfect."
"You're perfect. You did a great job babe." I said kissing the top of her head.

This was by far, the happiest day of my life.
I have a son. My son, with the love of my life. Words can't explain how overjoyed i feel. Right now. This moment. Everything is perfect.

9:00am

We got settled in a different, cleaner, after birth room and the nurse taught Y/N how to breastfeed.
After his first meal Noah went right to sleep. I was mesmerized, this was so beautiful.
"So do you guys have a name for the little prince?" The nurse smiled.
"Yes his name is gonna be Noah. Noah Garner." I said.
"Noah Kirk Garner." Y/N said after.
"Noah Kirk Garner. Sounds perfect." I smiled and kissed the top of her head tenderly.
"Alright i'll go file the paperwork. Congratulations again on your healthy baby boy." The nurse smiled and walked out.
Y/N rocked Noah back and forth and smiled sweetly.
"You're a handsome baby boy Noah. Just like your daddy."

There was a knock on the door and my dad popped his head in.
"Are you guys up to see some visitors?" He asked.
"Yeah. Of course." Y/N smiled.
"Come on in guys. Quietly." Kirk said and opened the door. Benji ran up to the bed next to Y/N and Bella smiled trying not to squeal.
"He's so small." Benji said.
"Hi little baby." Bella cooed. "Oh he's so precious. What's his name."
"His name is Noah." Y/N said. I stood up straight next to my father.
"Yep. Noah Kirk Garner." My father looked at me, he couldn't believe what i had just said, a smile formed on his face.
"Y/N can i hold him?" Bella asked.
"Of course you can but, be very careful."
"I wanna hold him too." Benji said.
"Guys, guys. My son is not a toy. Benji if you want to hold him you're gonna have to sit down." I said protectively knowing how fragile my son is right now.
Y/N slowly and gently handed Noah over to Bella. She slowly rocked him up and down walking over to the small couch in the room.

"You've made me a young grandfather son." I rolled my eyes at his comment. "Listen, Nate. If you and Y/N ever need anything, please, don't hesitate to call me." He said patting my shoulder. "And the restaurant, i want to make is breakfast and lunch again, no more night bar."
"Dad this isn't the right time or place to talk about that."
"Yeah. I'm sorry. I understand."
"It's fine."
"It's not. I'm sorry son."
I didn't want him to keep going so I didn't say anything after. Instead, i went up to Y/N and wrapped my arm around her. She laid her head on my shoulder.
"I'm so proud of you." I said kissing her. She sighed.
"So what do we do now."
"Well now, we take our baby home. We'll take things day by day and keep on learning new things. If we ever need a babysitter, well we got Bella she doesn't want to let him go now. We'll be alright baby."
"I love you so much Nate."
"I love you too."

"Nate can i stay over with you guys tonight and help you with the baby." Bella said.
"Oh can i too please." Benji jumped in.
"Guys maybe not tonight. Y/N and Nate must be very tired, maybe some other night. But, you guys get back settled in with me tonight. Isn't that exciting?!" My father said with enthusiasm.
"Yeah it is!" Benji said excitedly, Bella on the other hand frowned a little.
"Well then can we stay over sometime soon." She said.
"Well of course you guys can. Just as soon as we get Noah settled and start getting the hang of things we'll have a Garner sleepover." I said.
"Garner sleepover, sounds amazing bro." Bella smiled.
"Hey, where's Nina and Uncle John?" I asked.
"Oh they're out in the waiting room they didn't want to crowd Y/N and the baby." Kirk said. I looked down at Y/N and she smiled. My grip on her softly, she looked over at Benji and Bella with Noah and a soft smile formed on her pretty pink lips.
Noah hiccuped lowly and it was the cutest thing ever.
Everyone 'awed' and the tingling feeling in my heart was unexplainable.
"His first little hiccup." Y/N said softly in my ear.
