Chapter 30

*Y/N's Pov*

"He's heavily sedated right now, he won't wake up for quite some time." The doctor said to me before walking out.
I grabbed a chair and placed it next to Nates hospital bed.
The sight broke my heart. He had a cast on his leg, a thick gauze wrapped around his abdomen and another one on his head, his face was all bruised up.
I took a hold of his hand and kissed it softly.
"I'm sorry Nate. I'm sorry i did this to you." I cried.

I leaned my head on his bed and closed my eyes, not letting go of his hand.
Nates breathing was light and being helped by an oxygen mask. The sound of his breathing and the sound of the heart monitor beeping were giving me anxiety.
All i wanted was for Nate to open his eyes and tell me he's okay.
"Please stay strong baby, for us." I said kissing his hand again.

"Hey Y/N, how's he doing?" Kirk asked walking in.
"The doctor said he wont wake up for a while, they sedated him so he won't feel much pain." I sniffled.
"Mind if i wait with you?" He asked taking a seat on the empty chair.
"No, it's fine."
"Nates a strong man, he'll wake up soon. Don't worry." He comforted.
"I know." I smiled and laid my head down on the bed.

~two days later~

I sat up quickly hearing the door open.
"Oh. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to wake you, I'm just gonna check on the patient." The nurse said
"Oh it's fine." I said getting up and moving to the corner to give her some space.
"I'll go get us some breakfast." Kirk said before walking out.

I checked my phone and had messages from Bella.

Hey, don't worry about Noah. I had to come to school but Ninas taking care of him. How's Nate?

Thank you so much Bella. Nates still asleep right now. The doctors sedated him so he wont feel much pain.

I replied.

"Alright, he seems to be doing okay right now. I'll come back to check his signs again in an hour."
"Thank you." I smiled.
"Hey, how's he doing?" Kirk asked walking in and handing me a muffin with a little milk carton.
"He's doing just fine. I just gave him another IV and hopefully he'll get some strength back so we can take better care of that hemorrhage." The nurse said before walking out.

"Y/N why don't you go home and rest a bit. It looks like Nate won't be waking up for quite some time." Kirk said.
"But what if he does and i'm not here." I worried.
"If he does I'll call you right away. I promise. I'm sure you want to go check on Noah."

He was right. I knew he was in good hands with Nina but I haven't seen my baby in two whole days. Ugh i wish i could split myself in two so i can be taking care of both my boys at the same time.
"You're right. Noah, hasn't been apart from either of us this long."
"I'll walk you out." Kirk said accompanying me to my car.
...

I got to the house and saw Nina in the kitchen preparing a bottle for Noah.
"Hey Y/N." She said walking up to me embracing me in a hug.
"Hey."
"How's Nate?"
I sighed. "He's hanging in there. Still hasn't woken up."
"Oh sweetheart. We gotta stay strong, keep our faith, sooner or later Nates gonna get better and be able to go back to his old self." She gave me a comforting smile.  "Now, are you hungry?" She asked.
"Not really. Kirk and I had some breakfast at the hospital."
"Well, i'll make you guys some burritos. Hospital food is kinda crappy."
I chuckled.
"Alright, i'll give Noah his bottle."
"Oh no, no, no sweetheart i can do it. You go rest a bit."
"No Nina it's fine. I really want to spend some time with him before i go back to the hospital, I haven't seen my baby in a while."
She looked at me sympathetically.
"Alright." She smiled.

I went over to Noah and picked him up from his playpen.
"Hi baby, i missed you." I said giving him a big kiss. I sat down on the couch and started giving him his bottle. "You're daddy's gonna be okay. He's asleep right now but i know he's thinking of us because he loves us so much. Don't worry he'll come back soon and everything's gonna go back to being perfect." I said kissing his bald little head.
I smiled down at Noah. No matter how hard things got he was my little ray of sunshine and my hope that everything was gonna be alright.
His big blue eyes looked up at me and melted my heart.
"You got your daddy's eyes." I said smiling down at him. 
Noah finished his bottle and I burped him. I missed having him in my arms.
"I love you Noah." I said before rocking him to sleep.

I made my way upstairs and set him down in his crib, turning on the baby monitor.
I slowly closed the door and went and got some stuff ready to take a shower.

I yawned as i turned on the water. My back was kind of sore since i've been sleeping on a chair next to Nate.
The warm water was soothing to my back and body. I closed my eyes enjoying the feeling.

Once i was done i put on some sweatpants and one of Nate's hoodies. I laid on his bed and closed my eyes for a while.

When i opened my eyes again I didn't know how much had gone by. I got my stuff ready and went to go check on Noah before going back to the hospital.
...

I opened the door to Nates room and he was still fast asleep.
I brought the chair next to him again and laid my head down on the bed closing my eyes.

My head shot up when i heard a low groan from Nate.
"Nate. Nate are you okay?" I said taking a hold of his hand. He squeezed it hard and it hurt but i know this pain doesn't compare to what Nates feeling.
"Y/N...Y/N." He breathed out.
"I'm right here baby. I'm right here." I said gently caressing his face.
"Y/N." He repeated.
"I'm gonna go get the doctor." I said walking out.
I ran out and called for one and immediately two came rushing.
His heart monitor started going crazy.

"Alright, we need to move fast or he could loose consciousness completely!" One of the doctors said.
"We need to stabilize him!"
They started moving around injecting him with stuff and checking on the monitors.
I was trying so hard not to break down so they wouldn't kick me out but then my worst nightmare came to life.

Flatline.

"NATE! NO!" I cried.
"Miss, we're gonna need you to step outside." The nurse said leading me out.
"No! I can't! Please i need to be with him! Please!" I cried.
"He's gonna be okay. The doctors are gonna do everything they can." She said almost pushing me out.
The doctors got out the defibrillator and got it ready to shock Nate.
"All clear!" One of them screamed.

"Y/N! What's wrong?! What happened?" Kirk said running over to me.
"I-I- I don't know. He started talking and I don't know maybe it was too much for him but his heart monitor started going crazy." I cried.

Boom.

They gave Nate another shock.
Kirk embraced me and I couldn't bear to look.
"We're loosing him! Go again!"

This was it.
