Staying Strong (Sequel to The Two of Us)

Chapter 12

*Nates's Pov*

"You're the handsomest baby boy in the whole universe Noah. Yes you are. Daddy and I love you very very much." Y/N cooed as she rocked our baby back and forth. I haven't left her side for a second.
Noah was peacefully sleeping in Y/N's arms, Benji and Bella went to the cafeteria to buy some food with my dad, and Nina went to check on the restaurant a while ago. She shouldn't take too long.
Noah opened his eyes and closed them back almost immediately.
That was his first blink.
"Oh my God. Nate did you see that?!"
Y/N said excitedly. "He has your eyes."
I smiled widely i and ran my hands through my hair in awe. Y/N had the biggest smile on her face and even though she had just given birth not long ago, she still looked as beautiful as the day i first saw her.
"Can i hold him?" I asked
"Of course you can babe." Y/N smiled at me.

Slowly and carefully Noah went from Y/N's arms to mine. It's amazing to believe i created him. My son.
The door unlocked and Nina walked in with my Uncle John.
"How's the little angel?" She asked walking over to Y/N.
"He's fine. Just sleeping right now." I said as i cradled my son.
"How are you feeling Y/N?" She asked rubbing her shoulder.
"I'm doing alright. Just a little bit tired."
"Oh sweetheart....Well you know these first couple weeks you guys will be getting used to the baby and they can be a little tough but you both know i'll always be there to help you guys okay. Don't hesitate to call me." Nina said.

The nurse walked in with a tray of food. Mashed potatoes, some shredded chicken, vegetables, two nature valley granola bars, an apple, and grape juice.
"Well Mrs. Garner we need to get your energy up. And you haven't eaten in hours i want you to finish all this up." She said. I smiled at the fact that she called Y/N 'Mrs. Garner'.
Y/N Garner.
I love how that sounds.
"Alright, well that's good cuz' i actually am kinda hungry."
"And i know you've been impatient about your leave so good news is that once you're done with your meal we'll check on your signs and see how early we can let you go...and your husband here will get a list to do in order to keep your health on track." She said now looking over at me.
"Of course i will." I said and blew Y/N a kiss. She playfully stuck her tongue out at me.
The nurse walked out and my Uncle came up to me to see Noah.
"Hey Noah, you know you're gonna grow up and be big and strong just like your father here." He said.
"Aaaw no." Y/N whined. "That's still a long way. I just had him I don't even want to think about him growing up yet."
"Y/N well we don't want to raise a momma's boy now. Garner men are big and strong." John said.
"Um excuse me, my Noah is going to be a little gentleman."
"Of course he will be babe. And when he's older he'll protect his beautiful mommy cuz' you're our treasure." I said leaning down and giving Y/N a kiss.
"Well his mommy and maybe a little sister or younger siblings he might have in the future." Nina commented.
"Oh no. No more kids in a very, very, long time." Y/N said almost immediately but, i knew she didn't mean it offensively i knew exactly where it was coming from.
"That's right. We're going to have to stop our little surprises for now. Even though they're beautiful we need to start planning our wedding." I said.

"Oh yes. We need to reserve a church. Get all of the invitations ready. Y/N we need to go wedding dress shopping. Oh Noah can be the ring bearer. If Bella was younger she could've been the flower girl but we'll find someone. Y/N maybe someone from your side of the family. And wedding colors. Have a wedding theme-"
"Woah woah Nina. We'll have time for all of that and i'm going to be part of all the arrangements as well but, first let's give Y/N a chance to get her hospital leave." I chuckled.

"I was thinking lavender." Y/N said softly. "For the wedding decorations, and all the flowers. It's a soft color and lavender flowers on the flower girl dress." She smiled and looked over at me.
"I think it's perfect babe. It's your day we'll get you everything you want." I said.
"No Nate. It's our day. If you don't like something i want you to tell me. I want it to be perfect for the both of us."
"I love you." I said. "So much."
"I love you too Nate."
I leaned down and locked my lips with Y/N's. I was careful to keep Noah in the same position in my arms.

...

"Babe are you doing okay?." I asked through the bathroom door in Y/N's hospital room.
"Yeah I'm fine." She said. She was changing out of the gown and i was a bit worried. Since she had only given birth hours ago i know it could be a little painful and difficult for her to be changing on her own right now.
"You sure you don't need my help." I asked.
"No it's okay Nate. I'm almost done."

"Nate, don't push her right now. Remember her hormones are still gonna be a little unstable, so just be patient honey." Nina said.
I sighed and sat back down on the couch.
The bathroom door clicked open and i stood up almost immediately, Y/N slowly walked out in Victoria's Secret sweatpants and my oversized USC hoodie.
"I'm ready." She said.
I walked over to her and laid a tender kiss on her forehead. "Ready to be parents babe?" I asked.
"I think so." She said lowly. Almost a whisper.
"We got this."

"Nate, John just texted me. He pulled up the car in front of the hospital already."
"Okay."  I said. I held Y/N's hand with my right and with my left i lifted the baby car seat/carrier that had our son fast asleep.

Y/N was holding on tight to my arm the whole way to the car. I opened the back door for her and she slowly got in to the middle seat. I placed Noah in and moved the handle down to convert it into a car seat.
I need to remind myself to thank my dad for this gift later. I grabbed the seat belt gently putting it over Noah and handing it to Y/N so she can buckle him in.
"All set." She said. I closed the door and ran over to the other side on my Uncles Ford Explorer to get next to
Y/N.
"We get to go home now. As a family." I whispered softly in her ear wrapping my arm around her. She slightly smiled as i left a trail of gentle kisses across her neck.
My left hand ran up and down her soft thigh comfortingly and she rested her head on my shoulder.
"You're going to be an amazing mom. You have nothing to worry about. I know you're scared because we're young but, it's okay baby. I feel that we're ready for this. We have each other to lean on and we'll figure things out as we go through life every day. Together." I said.
I was expecting a reply but i looked down and Y/N's eyes were closed. She was fully asleep and i'm glad she's getting some rest right now.
Maybe she didn't hear what i said but that doesn't matter because i'll prove it to her each and every day, just like i prove how much i love her.
Y/N and Noah are my world.
