"turn your goddamn music down!" mother shouted over the music blasting through my headphones. "i can hear it from here!!"
i sighed and push the volume button on the side of my phone. i was listening to piledriver waltz by arctic monkeys. liam was watching anime in the back seat and next to him was courtney, who was staring blankly out the window of the car.
the country club was about a half hour drive, so it was almost bareable. mother was on the phone with a man she calls "mr. F." she told liam and i to keep our headphones in and we all knew courtney wouldnt need a warning. shes going insane and we could all see it but mother.

though it was an overcast saturday, it was about 75 degrees which is wonderful. the country club was blooming with wealthy families and elders. blond haired women with blond haired husbands with blond haired children trailing behind like ducks. 50 year old men with 20 year old women on their arms. big groups of men and their wives all ready to play golf for hours. materialism and expensive sunglasses. long island iced tea and fake laughter. my second home.
