"yeah." i replied blandly. we were all tired, though i was for a different reason. "at dinner liam was totally checking out anahita."
"was not!!" liam chimed in defensively.
"were too!!" courtney said.
"well hayden and ashley couldnt stop staring at each other." liam retorted.
"well, we are friends so." i replied.
"you are?" mother asked.
"yeah, we know each other from calc."
"that surprises me, as sage hates her."
"sage hates her? why?" courtney asked sleepily.
"yeah, why?" liam said.
"long story." i said flatly.
"ugh." liam sighed.
Courtney was asleep.
mother was drunk.
i was driving.
liam hated it when i drove, though i was 17.
we had scattered conversations throughout the drive home, and i was glad to have my family laughing all in one place.
