Hey everybody! This is a rewrite of Promises I Couldn't Keep. I'm still not sure if I'll keep this title or not. Let me know what you think though! :) SN: I didn't do much proof reading so I hope there aren't many mistakes.
I woke up to the sound of Mama and Charles yelling again. They were always yelling at each other.
"Charles please! Before you wake up the girls!" I heard my mama pleading with Charles followed by a vase hitting the floor.
Too late. I thought to myself as I sat up in bed.
"Shalonda? You woke?" I whispered to my younger sister. I was so scared. I seen her sit up in her bed.
"Yes... I hate when they do this. It scares me."
"Yeah, it scares me too. They're always yelling especially when we're in bed."
"Do they think that we're asleep or something?"
"I don't know," I replied. I mean I'm 14 and Shalonda's 13 so it aint like we're oblivious to what's going on.
There was a long pause. I don't know why we were always in these situations. My mama was always going from man to man telling us that this one would be different from any of the others. That was always a lie. They normally would just be some dirty old and ugly drunk man that had nothing else better to do than make all our lives a living hell. When she finally left the man she would soon be with someone else with the same ole habits so when we first met Charles we thought he would be different considering that he was almost 10 years younger than our mama and (yeah I admitting it) he was cute. Come to find out he also was just like the others...maybe worst. Not only would he abuse my mama but he would also flirt with us.
"I hope he doesn't hit her this time," she said breaking me out of my thoughts. I could hear her voice shaking. Tears began to form in my eyes. 'If only she knew,' I thought to myself.
"Me..."
"Shhh!" Shalonda whispered cutting me off.
I shut my mouth and listened. We could hear footsteps coming down the hall. We could hear our mother pleading with Charles again. I quickly laid back down as they came down the hall. I didn't want them to know we were awake.
"Please Charles! I'll do whatever you want!"
"Shut up!"
We heard him slap her. She hit the wall with a loud thud. My pillows were completely soaked by that time. My tears just wouldn't stop coming. We heard heard him crack the door. He came in leaving my mother on the ground.
He walked over to Shalonda's bed first. My heart was beating out of my chest. What was he going to do to her. I craked open my eyes and began to watch his every move. He bent down over her and began to blow against her ears.
"Hello Shalonda," he whispered.
He kissed her cheek softly. I seen her tense up. There was no way I was going to let him hurt my little sister. I set up in bed. He looked over my way and smiled.
"Need something Anya?"
"Please don't touch her," I pleaded.
He let out a loud chuckle and began to rub his fingers down to her stomach.
"What are you going to give me in return if I do stop?" he asked with a sick grin on his face. He's got to be kidding me. What could I possibly give him?
"I suppose you don't know," he said after noticing my hesitance. He got up off of her bed and made his way over to mines. He sat on the side, his four inches from mines, his dirty blond hair nearly touching my face. I gulped out of fear but quickly straightened my face before he noticed anything. Too late. I noticed his dirty smile form once again on his face. This man made me sick.
"Nervous Anya?" he asked moving closer.
"Why don't you leave us alone and go back where you came from? You don't belong here." I tried to say that boldly so that I cover up how uncomfortable he was making me.
"I do belong here. And besides, if I do go anywhere you're coming with me. I think I always liked you better than your whiny mama and sister anyways." He moved closer. "You would like that won't you?" he whispered against my lips. I wanted to push him off but was too afraid to move. My eyes began to well up in tears. Where is my mama when I need her. All of a sudden his lips crash against mine and it felt absolutely disgusting.
"Leave her alone!" I heard Shalonda scream and out of all things she decided to launch her pillow at his head. He lifted his head and groaned. He looked over at Shalonda clearly angry.
"You little bitch!"
He ran over to her and slapped her. She screamed in pain as she hit her bed. This time I wasn't too afraid to move. I was over to the other side of the room within seconds. He reached up his hand to slap her again but I grabbed him.
"Please Charles please!
He pushed me to the ground. I hit it with a loud thud and watch as he hit her a second and a third time. I couldn't think of anything to do so I did something that I absolutely hated to do. I grabbed him once again and kissed him. Was it the best I could do? I don't know but I did it. This shocked him. I expected him to push me off again since he was so angry but instead he relaxed. This is one bipolar dude. Once I felt him relax I let go. I felt dirty but if it would stop him from hurting her I would do it all over again. I looked over at Shalonda. Her left cheek began to swell. She held it as she looked at me shocked.
"Now that wasn't so bad was it?" He had another grin on his face. I shook my head too scared to speak.
He moved in to kiss me again. I turned my head. I was not doing that again if I didn't have to.
"Let me guess, you want me to leave?"
I nodded. He laughed and walked over to our door.
"Come on,"
"What?" I managed to get out.
"You're coming with me."
