Chapter 1 - FML

Two Years Later

Brring!

Brring! Adonis reached over to his nightstand and pressed snooze on his phone. It was 7 in the morning which means it's time for him to head to work. He wasn't an Architect yet he was still in training after getting his masters. So he worked at Comcast and installed people's cables. Did he like the job? No, he hated it but with the $1,800 check he get every two weeks he decided to suck it up and go to work. He hates the boss. Craig, his boss, tends to pick on him since he does his jobs so well and all his co-workers respects him. Adonis doesn't pay him any mind but he tends to give him a piece of his mind if he needed too. He got up out the bed to take a shower but not before stopping by a mirror. Adonis looked a little different. He still had his dreads but he had beard now it wasn't too long but it suits his face. He takes real good care of it. He got a new tattoo of a cross with angel wing with Nyla in the center to represent his daughter. He loved her and some days when it get's kind of heavy he might shed a tear but weed helps.

After his shower, he put on his work uniform. A grey t-shirt, black pants, Nike sneakers, and a grey hat with the company name on it. He got in the company van that they gave him. He still had his own car but he was required to be in the van at all times at his jobs. Craig orders. He drove to McDonalds and got him a McMuffin and a hashbrown before he drove off to work. He got out the van and clocked in 8:02 am. He sighed he knew he was going to get some shit for this. Speaking of shit, here comes Craig.

"You're late," Craig told him.

"By two minutes. If it helps I'll end my day at 6:02," Adonis said.

"No, you see today it's 8:02 then tomorrow it's 8:04 then the next is 8:06. You see the pattern?" Craig said.

"Yeah, it's two minutes. Just two," Adonis said trying not to lose it but it didn't take him that long to go from zero to a hundred. Craig started to laugh.

"I'm just playing. You take everything serious. Your route is up there," Craig said. Adonis fake laughed. One thing that Adonis hated was phony niggas and Craig was the phoniest one he ever met. Adonis went on the bulletin board to grab his route. He had 6 jobs he had to do today. Working at this job taught him how to manage time because his training to be an Architect was at 6:30 so he had to hurry and finish his work. So after getting his routes and jobs for the day he went back into the van and went to his first job.

"Let's get this day over with," He said to himself as he got out the van.

Adonis finished his jobs early at around 4 today. After work, Adonis drove over to Kyle's townhouse. To say that Kyle has changed was an understatement, sure he had the same personality but his life was different. Kyle is in love with his girlfriend, Faith. They went to the same college together and fell in love with each other. Last year, they brought a child into their world, Genevieve. Everybody else calls her GiGi and she is beautiful. Kyle is a dad now and it has changed him. Kobe was also at Kyle's house. Kobe hasn't changed that much he had a few relationships but2 none of them really last. Right now, he is single and is enjoying it. Adonis knocked on his door. He waited a few second before it was answered. Kyle opened the door and he had a pair of baby jeans in his hand.

"What's up," Adonis greeted.

"Nothing it's just this child act like she don't want to put on her pants," Kyle said.

"NO!" Gigi exclaimed as she ran around the house. Kyle let Adonis in his home.

"Let me try," Adonis said.

"Aight," Kyle warned as he handed her little jeans. Gigi was playing with her toys. She will be two in December and it was late November so she was kinda busy and got into a lot of stuff she wasn't supposed to. She looked like her mom but she acted like her dad.

"Gigi, let's put on our clothes," Adonis said to her. Gigi looked at him and laughed then she began to run away from her. Adonis smiled and chased after her and then he ran faster than and got in front of her. She ran straight into his arms. "I got you now!" He held her upside and she started to laugh. Then he put her jeans on and placed her down.

"See that wasn't so hard," Adonis said to Kyle.

"Whatever you just play rough with her and she come to you," Kyle said. Adonis loved Gigi and he took care of her whenever they wanted him too. Adonis really loved kids in general.

"Where Faith at?" Adonis asked.

"She sleep. I don't know I just don't like her working that night shift. She works from 10-5 at the hospital then after that she still on the clock. She might come home and then have to go back. It's draining out her energy," Kyle said. Faith was a nurse and she worked many shifts while Kyle was a civil engineers and he could work whenever he pleased.

"She's just starting out. I'm sure things will get better," Adonis said.

"I hope so," Kyle said. They both heard a knock on the door and Kyle opened and it was Kobe. Kobe just got of work of being a art director. His job may sound like it doesn't pay anything but he got a BMW and live in a condo.

"Wassup!" Kobe said.

"Did you bring the weed, nigga?" Kyle asked.

"Of course I did," Kobe said.

"Let me go put Gigi to sleep then we can roll up," Kyle said.

"Let me do it?" Adonis asked.

"Sure you seem to do it faster than me," Kyle said. Adonis picked up Gigi who was playing with her toys and took her to her room and he laid in the bed with her. She was sitting up playing with his dreads. After a few minutes, she laid on his chest while messing with dreads.

Adonis walked downstairs after he put Gigi to sleep. It didn't really take to long for him. He went outside in the backyard of Kyle's townhome. It was small but it had a enough room for Gigi to play around in. He saw Kobe and Kyle smoking without him.

"Oh so y'all just gon smoke without me," Adonis said.

"We couldn't wait," Kyle said.

"Fuck y'all," Adonis said as he sat in a patio chair and smoked with them.

"So Adonis, how's life?" Kobe asked.

"I woke up this morning. I'm good," Adonis answered.

"Good, I have to ask you. You know...since the suicide attempt," Kobe said.

"I was not even trying to do that. I simply was walking across street and that truck came out of nowhere," Adonis explained. A few months ago, Adonis and Kobe went walking and he wasn't paying attention and a truck was coming. Adonis ran so fast the truck missed. It was a near-death experience but he made it out. It wasn't suicide attempt. Kobe says that because the day before he found out something that hurt him deeply. That he didn't even want to think about nor talk about it. How could she just move in like that? Adonis thought.

"Whatever nigga," Kobe said. Adonis looked at his watch. It was 6 and Adonis had to be at training in 30 minutes.

"I gotta go," Adonis said.

"Bruh, how long is your training?" Kyle asked.

"It's 12 month program. I only got 6 more months than I be making houses for you niggas," Adonis said.

Adonis was on his way home after the training. He was tired he wanted to go home and smoke a blunt and watch Adventure Time. He was 25 and still watch cartoons but he didn't care if people judged him for it. He was at a stop sign when he got a text from Megan. Megan went to Dunbar with Adonis. She liked him and even attempted to hook up with him but he was in a relationship. But that relationship died two years ago. He looked at the text.

Megan: Can u cm over

Might as well end the night right Adonis thought. He didn't really like the pointless sex but it keep his mind off some things and got rid of some of his frustration.
